View Full Version : Weird RB2 PS3 Guitar problems (Tilt + Effects Switch + PS lights)

After nearly 3 months of perfect gaming, my guitar decided to break up on me. The tilt, effects switch and 2 out of the 4 PS controller connect lights stopped working.
Everything happened at the same time, so I imagined it was a low battery issue, but changing them makes no difference... Fortunately the essential still works: all 10 fret buttons, strum, whammy bar, all PS buttons and it connects to my PS3 perfectly, so I can still play. But not being able to use all the features I paid for is extremely frustrating.
Has anyone had that same, or even similar problem, or have any ideas on how to fix it? (I'm open to fixes that require 'warranty void', as I don't consider sending my guitar back as an option). Thanks!

Quick bump (I hope this is allowed on this forum)

I had the same issues but adjusted the tilt sensor and it's been fine ever since.

BriGuy's thread should be of some help:

Good luck.

Did that solve the PS3 lights and effects switch problem as well?
Thanks anyway, I'll try to do that and see what happens (I'll post the results soon).

Well... thanks again for the answer, but It didn't work at all, not even for the tilt problem... My guess is on some kind power distribution problem, 'cause only specific parts of the guitar are failing and they all started at the same time (the weirdest one being the "2 working, 2 failing" PS3 controller lights). If anyone else has any idea, It'll be most welcome.

No ideas other than open it up and see if something became loose or broken. You may want to try pulling each ribbon cable out and re-seating them. The tilt sensor is that little black cylindrical piece. You need to make sure it's aligned with the rectangle box printed on the circuit board underneath. That fixed my tilt issues.

I've already opened it to take a look, but there was nothing visibly broken or loose. I'll try reattaching the ribbons and checking the tilt sensor. Thanks for the answer btw, I'll post news as soon as I get home.
