I think Harmonix should realise the DLC in a game for PS2. Like slap all the dlc on it and make it 40$. I'd buy it
Anyone agree?

Save that $40 for a next gen console...

Not nearly enough PS2s out there with the add-on adapter. No online network like LIVE, PSN.

Disk-based expansion content would be a smart idea for people without internet connections or on consoles-without-DLC-capability.
I don't think any of the 10 commandments said that additional content loaded onto the harddrive of a console has to come from the internet.

DLC is coming out every week o.O; What would they do, make a disk every 30 or 40 songs?

I don't see that happening due to licensing restrictions. Without having the DLC tied to hardware you could share it to any PS2 without paying for it. I realize that PSN allows sharing to up to 5 systems, and XBL limits you to the 1 for offline play, but my point is I just don't see it happening.

I agree DRM is the only real niggle going on, but Microsoft has managed to DRM just about everything this side of your toothbrush so I have confidence that they could make it work. Example, each expansion ships with a very cheap memory card with the song unlock code on it and once you install it on one XBox it rewrites the memory card data so you can't do it again. To re"vitalize" the memory card you'd have to delete the content off the box.
See? Smart wins, money ist spent.

It will never happen. If it does in the future revive this thread and I'll gladly eat my plate of deep fried crow.
If you don't have a next gen console then well... buy one and throw away your PS2 already. If you don't have high speed internet then again, you're behind the times, get it. I don't see why HMX would go through the trouble of selling DLC on a disk. You'll most likely get less songs on the disk anyways because they have to offset the cost of manufacturing the disk, packaging, shipping to retailers, ect.

Except it would cost at LEAST $50 for 30 songs, judging by Guitar Hero 80's Edition. And that's for less songs than are on the retail Rock Band disk.
I can't see it happening, and to be honest, I don't think enough consumers would go for it to make it happen.
