Title says it all. I've had a strat sitting in my room for years and I'm going to finally get down and learn to play it. While I know a teacher, I'd like to learn some easy songs on my own. Any help would be welcome, links adored.

AC/DC - "Back In Black (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/a/ac_dc/back_in_black_ver9_tab.htm)
Black Sabbath - "Iron Man" (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/b/black_sabbath/iron_man_tab.htm)
Godsmack - "Bad Religion" (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/g/godsmack/bad_religion_ver5_tab.htm)
Tool - "Schism" (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/t/tool/schism_ver4_tab.htm)
Metallica - "For Whom The Bell Tolls" (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/m/metallica/for_whom_the_bell_tolls_ver6_tab.htm)
That's all I've got for now. I tried to give you the best tabs available on the net for each song. "Bad Religion" is possibly one of the easiest songs on guitar in history, so if you're a complete noob, start there. And if even these are too challenging, you can check out songs by Green Day, Blink-182, and The Offspring as those are all chord happy bands and are extremely easy to play.

I just found this site they sort by difficulty, song, artist etc.. They put the rhythm on the tab. Also, they have a MIDI track to follow.

Hope that helps.

Off the top of my head.
I always had trouble with Everlong.
It's just this one chord that I can't hold.

Oh yeah, that chord. I usually don't bother it. I usually play the acoustic version though and where that chord isn't included.

What chord are you guys talking about?
Everlong is in a dropped tuning which usually means chords are easier to make.

Uhh, off the top of my head,
Bar the 9th with 11th on the D string
I suck a bar chords. I'm trying to work on Lightning Crashes by Live right now.

Ah, yes. It's a pretty simple chord, just gotta work up finger strength to hold it.
I always have a problem with the Purple Haze chords. Off the top of my head, it's the 7th on the A, 6th on the D, 7th on the G, and 8th on the B. It just seems so awkward to play and then he moves it up a full step and then my fingers get all jumbled.

Ahh, now see? I've always been good at sliding chords without messing up. Just goes to show, everyone is a little different.
Edit: And what a lovely chord, thanks for that one, hahaa. :D

Aside from what's been mentioned:
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Californication (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlUKcNNmywk)
Foo Fighters :: Times Like These (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B--3cId-YE)
Oasis :: Importance of Being Idle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sv0_bFpeLI8)
Tom Petty :: Free Fallin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lWJXDG2i0A)
Once you want something a little "harder":
Jack Johnson :: Banana Pancakes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkyrIRyrRdY)
Eric Johnson :: Rain (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1Wjjk7Xlvw) (Probably sound nice on your strat.)

Paranoid - Black Sabbath is what I'm learning right now. It's fairly easy, just the solo is what I'm having trouble with.

I would suggest Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce :D
Ok ok im sorry, that song is waaayy too easy. So here you go:
1. The Rolling Stones - Paint it Black
2. Nirvana - Smells like Teen Spirit (perfect for your fingers to adjust to chord movements)
3. Sixx:A.M - Courtesy Call
4. Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams
and finally...
5. Three Days Grace - Animal I have Become (Probably the EASIEST song to learn, so this would be my #1 for you)

Nah, "Just Like You" is definitely the easiest 3DG song. It's just bar chords. "Animal I Have Become" has some finger movement besides bar chords.

Yes, but Animal I Have Become is the first song I ever learned how to play.

Everyone seems to be focusing on chord heavy songs...I must be the only guitarist that sucks at doing chord changes (minus power chords, of course). Five years and I still can't do a fluid chord change in a song.

I've only been playing (and I mean playing, not playing with a guitar :p I did that way more) for three years but still, this
However I've recently taken to learning Beatles songs on bass and banjo parts to Flogging Molly songs on guitar, and that's been fun.
A few "easy" songs (I can't think of anything REALLY easy that hasn't already been mentioned, but I'd consider these to be on the low end of moderate):
Code Monkey - Jonathan Coulton
Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas (The chorus gets a little chordy, but most of the song isn't too bad)
Seek and Destroy - Metallica (Yes really. You move around quite a bit, but it's not chord-heavy and the patterns are fairly repetitive, so If you can figure out the first 30 seconds you're good for the majority of the song)
The Takeover, The Break's Over - Fall Out Boy (WAY easier than it sounds, trust me. It takes some work, but it's fun as hell once you figure it out. I wouldn't start with this one, but once you find your way around the fretboard a little bit this is worth a shot)

I just remembered another one...
King of Everything - Anarchy Club
This song is incredibly easy. Thanks to the power of Drop D, it is literally just one barre chord moved up and down the neck.

Sevendust solos are pretty easy, it's pretty much octave chords loaded with wah moved up and down the neck.
