I came up with a new fix a couple days ago and have tested it out pretty good.

Materials needed: 1 business bard, 1 piece of tape

Rip the business card into like 1/3 and take that piece and put it into the space between your strum bar and guitar, push it down a little bit(dont force it) then tape down the piece that is left sticking out to your guitar. If you have an upstrum problem put it on the bottom, and a downstrum would go on top.

After doin this your strum should be a little stiff but work perfectly, after playing with it for a while, you can basically just remove the business card piece and it will work again, for how long though? I don't know yet :P

Also had some1 say they just put a full business card in there and kept strumming outside the game and removed it to go in game and that it seemed to fix it right out

Is that a William Shakespeare in a suit and tie? (Snicker, snicker)

Seriously - that's a great suggestion. I can do fine on most songs - but the double-strumming on the Ramones gets me every time even though I end up on the right beats at the beginning and end. I'll certainly try this.

Thanks for posting!

Or since it seems you're on a first gen guitar with the 2 fragile metal pices... You could replace it for with a 3rd gen magnetic switched guitar that doesn't have these problems for FREE!

Ah but that takes TIME!

You can also add some rubber bands inside, if you're willing to do "surgery". There are nubs in the machine that are clearly there for the purpose of a tension system, but there is nothing there. So it does no damage, if you feel comfortable digging in the innards.

This actually worked with TWO Fender Strats. We have NO CLUE WHY. We have NO CLUE HOW.

But this crazy pothead has found a simple fix for one of the biggest problems Rock Band has faced.

Now figure out how to use a business card to fix a snapped Drum Pedal.

okay, after a couple days its not working as well.
ive even replaced the card a few times and tried securing it down more..
works well sometimes but usually cuts out mid-song and fails.

what kinda wait time we talkin here to trade guitars in?..

i dont really feel like taking all this equipment back to best buy to get another broken guitar.

I got my new replacement within a week, ohhhhh...but the bad news...it was broken as soon as I plugged it in even worst than the one I was about to send back. It doesn't even work half the time on the up stroke.
