Rock Band 2 Wii Guitar Overdrive Problems

I need help when i play rock band 2 with my guitar the overdrive sometimes activates itself. Anything i can do to fix that?

Sometimes it seems the sensitivity of the Fake Plastic Rock instruments changes. Sometimes they are too sensitive, other times I've had to almost throw the thing on the ground to make it activate.

In general (with the Guitar Hero Instruments) it seems that they read you moving the guitar away from your body more then tilting it up and down. For the Harmonix instruments it seems to vary a lot from make/revision to make/revision.
