I have been sitting online for about 10 minutes and not a single person has hopped into band. Noticed this abotu 2 days ago where it was getting harder to find anyone anyone else experiencing this?

I've posted this elsewhere, but I quit playing online after a few times because I just found it pointless (on PS3). There's basically no interaction. No headsets, so I can't talk to you. Not even text chat. No online BWT, so you can't build together towards anything.
If I can't talk to you, and there's no chance of shared progress, you're just a name and a stock polygon model to me. I don't really care how good you are at guitar / drums / whatever. I don't feel excited to play the game with or against you.
360 is a different story as they at least have chat. But until they get chat or BWT into PS3 RB, the online mode is going to remain rather unpopular, I think.

Yeah, I have tried a couple times and had zero people join. I'm not gonna sit there staring at the screen for 20 minutes.

Yes, it is sad. It's something I feel needs to be addressed. The PS3 version without chat makes for zero interaction and zero ability to feel involved in deciding setlists. I'm starting to find playing online quickplay to be a very empty experience aside from forming bands from my friends list.
I feel like something needs to be done or it could die on PS3. Which disturbs me just a little.
It's virtually impossible to get a game as a solo drummer, but I kind of expected that it was due to every man and his dog wanting to play drums.

yeah i agree with the fact that it sucks not being able to talk, same s**t as playing by yourself, it doesn't really make a difference unless you know the people you are playing with. i usually play with a friend i go to college with and we just text each other with our cell phones that's really lame. if the 360 version has it why can't the ps3 have it too....!

Has anyone thought about using Skype while playing? I dunno might be fun.

My issue is that everyone on the PSN just sucks. I've won almost every drum score battle (curse you Dead on Arrival!), and every time I get in a band game, it's with one person: a guitarist who needs 4 saves.
I kinda gave up.

Haha, that's what you do when you play too. :)

LMAO! That's because most of us who have a PS3 are still waiting after the bundle! Here we mostly receive Xbox 360 bundles for some weird reason :(

Thanks you! Completely agree. I think it'd be fun to play with people I know or people on this forum.
I gave up online games for the same reason. But even with voice chatting, I'd be more interested in doing online band vs band combat. At that time we can set up clan-like bands and set up battles.
The biggest kick for me right now is to move myself up the leaderboard.

Where do you live???
in the province of Québec :p But I've got my hands on the bundle now, so it's all good :) And to answer the question about this thread, I don't find it that hard. There ARE people out there :)

If they at least gave a small amount of money to each player for finishing the song then it wouldn't be entirely pointless.
But as it is now, you can spend a whole day playing online and at the end of it you will have absolutely nothing to show for it.

Except a crapload of fun!
I've got some PS3 friends who I added both to my PS3 account and to a Yahoo IM account. When we decide to play, we start up an IM conference so we can all decide songs together, figure out who's playing bass and guitar, and even take breaks for a breather now and then.
With that type of setup, we can play for hours and hours without frustration.
You guys gotta realize that planning just a little bit in this game makes it a whole lot more fun. Just searching for random players is, at best, hit or miss.

I tell you what. With this writer's strike going on, there's sh*t on TV nowadays. I spend usually my nights playing Uncharted, Assasin's or Rock Band with my wife. If anyone's up for it, I'll play online every monday at 9pm EST. My wife will be there, and she's good on vocals (#16 in Black Hole Sun while playing on HARD). I'm good on Guitar, and OK on drums. So, I usually play guitar online. So, meet me there! Mondays! I'll post again next monday.

While it's still lots of fun to play online, I agree there's something missing here. we really need chat on the PS3 at LEAST between songs. yeah you could text friends or AIM/Y!M/ICQ someone but that's still mroe work than we should have to go through.
And yes there needs to be some sort of extra benefit for online play, I can't understand how the game got this far without someone saying something needs to be added to KEEP people playing.

Oh Jamie, you are like some sort of man-god. You should really consider going pro and leaving these wannabes behind. Shoot for the moon!

Sounds to me like you haven't tried the PC chat method. I'm not saying I wouldn't rather have voice chat on the PS3, but it's definitely an acceptable substitute and the "work" to set it up is at most downloading and installing a program and collecting screen IDs.
Believe me, it's more than worth the little bit of trouble that goes into setting it up.
That said, I'll abandon the IM approach in a hot second if voice chat shows up.

What I mean is, assuming you're just jumping into a game, you have to get these people on your friends list then message them to turn on AIM and give out your screen name to communicate with if them. If they arnt buddies of yours already it's a pain.

I dunno what problem you guys are having, but I have no problems finding a band quickly on anything but drums. There's no lack of drummers out there, but almost every time I plug in on guitar, I get slapped into a band in seconds. If I go as a drummer, I may have to wait 5 minutes, tops.

Although I haven't been playing much lately, I did notice a serious lack of gamers online today. My drummer and I waited 5 minutes between songs to find someone and usually got someone on the third try or so, then they would quit after one song... blegh.
That doesn't seem bad, but I used to sign on and BOOM! I'd find a full party immediately. In fact, if it took more than 3 seconds to find another player, I'd jest: "What, nobody's on at 4 in the morning?"

In all honesty the way the game has been selling it's probably just a random lull, I mean I never wait longer than 2 minutes to find a drummer and lead guitar, It might be a bit longer waiting for a lone bassist but those are probably playing with drummers and blocking them from joining the game since you already have one.
