I don't know whats up with my PC, but for some reason when I log on, nothing shows up.

I'm on Vista, so the Task Manager is pretty much useless, but I did manage to open up Chrome.exe with it. Any other Exe gets a 1073741819 error when I try to open it.

I can open Exe's in safe mode, but I have to know their name.

I use Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D, and PC Cillin as virus protection, so if you could tell me the name of the Exe files for them I'd be so very grateful.

Or you could just tell me how to fix the problem entirely.

Please help! Thanks.

SDMain.exe is Spybot. I don't use the other two.

Thank you so much! I'm going to try it in safe mode now.

It didn't work.

The second Searchbot opens, it's terminated by something. Same with Malwarebytes and Explorer.exe

I'm really pissed right now. I've never had something this bad before.

If you use CCleaner (for the registry cleanup), that's CCleaner.exe.

Do you have a lot of data you can't afford to lose? If not, you may just want to do a reinstall of the original software.

If you have a Windows install disc, you can try to repair your computer, or re-install the OS, that'll clear everything up.

I don't even have virus protection on my laptop, and the only time I worry about viruses is when I'm dealing with programs over p2p networks.

Do a restore to before you were having the problem.

1. Backup everything
2. Try reinstalling Windows
3. If all else fails format

It's hopeless. I'm going to have to wipe the drive.

Anybody know Dos commands? I need to move a folder on my desktop (Vista) to my external drive.

you tried the restore and it didn't work?

Hmm, well, if you have Vista and the recovery manager pre-installed on the unit, you should have the option to backup data before you begin the process...

Hit F11 on restart at the logo usually, select advanced options, recovery, it will ask you to backup data before proceeding.
