View Full Version : Will the MW2 stimulus map pack be worth it?

If you think about it, were only getting three new maps, and two of which were already in Call of Duty 4. I checked out a sneak preview on YouTube and to be honest, I'm not all that impressed with how the maps look. Overgrown and Crash look the same too (from what was shown in the YouTube clip).

And the price is just ridiculous. 1200 MS points? Are you kidding me? The map pack for CoD 4 was only 800 points. Activision is crossing the line with that outrageous price for 3 new maps, and 2 old maps.

Is it going to be worth the purchase? I mean don't get me wrong, Modern Warfare is my favorite shooter game, hell, my favorite video game of all time (next to RB of course ;) ) but I think Activison is asking for a little too much on this one.

Yea I think the price is kinda high. They should've just stayed at 800, but I'll be buying the map pack anyways so I have more maps other than the in game ones to play in.

I get it for free so I don't care.
But for all the other people that is a ridiculous price.

I'll end up getting them, I'm always a sucker for new maps on call of duty. Seeing how I have 3200 Microsoft points sitting by me and tomorrow most of them go between those maps and Axis.

I'm getting them.

15$ for literally hours of entertainment? Hell yes.

Even though I don't play any COD game, I do find it weird that they are charing $15 for the "stimulus" map pack. Yeah...charging an outrageous price is going to stimulate the economy.

It's gonna stimulate the game's community.

Anyways, I think it'll be worth it. I'll be on it tomorrow morning. :D

Will the MW2 stimulus map pack be worth it?
In the short run, absolutely not. In the long run, absolutely.

See, for the people who casually play MW2 are going to complain about the price. They aren't going to play the game forever. The hardcore MW2 players will complain about it, but end up just forgetting about the price and just having fun and winning.

Since I sold MW2 a while ago, I don't care. :p

At a quarter of the price for the full game, I think not. Its only 3 new maps and 2 remaps, maybe at 5 new maps. 1200 points is just greed. It should be 800. However, If I somehow win microsoft points or get gifted some I will pick it up, but not with my own money.

A huge problem I see coming with this map pack is not everyone is going to have it so what is it going to do if one person doesn't have just kick them out of the game lobby. That's going to be a lot of fun, plus you can't even choose the new maps you just have to hope you get to play on one. Well unless you play private, but that's no fun for serious game play, just messing around yes.

i don't think people are realizing how they are making the companies hands over fists of money by accepting to pay ridiculous fees for nominal content. If these maps would be to add on the single player as well as multi player, then heck even i'd consider it, but as is, no way would i be caught dead paying that much. Online is actually kinda boring to me, i don't have only time to play and when i do venture, i realize that i am just not that good enough at FPS to bother dishing out top dollar for something that will give me limited replay value.

Price is high, yes. But the game is so fun, that the price tag for the map pack does'nt matter.

If you play the hell out of the game, then yeah, you'll get more than your money's worth and will forget about the price if you're having a lot of fun.

It's still a rip, but you're dealing with Activision after all.

go Halo!

I'm buying it today. I play a good bit, probably 4+ hours a week, and I think it's worth it.

dont download it yet.

They haven;t released a patch for it, so when you download it you can't play AT all.

But other people are still having an issue where they can get into a game lobby, but the countdown won't stop so a game won't start.

I'm definitely buying them tomorrow when I can get the points for them. The new maps look amazing, and Overgrown was one of my favorite maps in COD4, so I think it's worth it.

I really wish IW would have taken a Bungie-esque approach to releasing old maps (aka spiritual successors) rather than copy and paste them from CoD4 to MW2.

Everyone that purchased them, what are your opinions on the maps?

Crash - I love this map. Every game type plays s good on it.
Overgrown - I drew this map a lot, and I'm not a big fan of it. I never really was, but it is better than some maps that come on disc.
Bailout - My favorite map so far. I love the cramped quarters and the long distance shooting, surprisingly there are no good camping spots as of yet, which is a very good thing.
Storm - I only played like 2 times, but I like the feel of it. It's going to be a good one.
Salvage - I love this map. I like the closeness of it, and how fast it moves. It's a bad search and destroy map, but everything else plays amazing on it.

Crash - My favorite from COD4, so I was satisfied. :p
Overgrown - One of my other favorites, so I'm glad they picked this one. Finally we have a good sniping map.
Bailout - I like this map, but not on Sabotage. It was a terrible camp fest, but I enjoyed it.
Storm - I LOOOOOVE this on SnD.
Salvage - I love this on any gametype. :p

I hope for you guise that DLC is required to play after you get these map packs, because on Halo it's almost like DLC never came out!

after knowing all you get is maps, it isnt worth it for me. May end up getting it because other people that use my PS3 play MW2, but i dont feel the price is justified. Yeah yeah, we all know its Activision's fault.
