PS3 Hard Drive Swap, want to use my old band name
I swapped out my old hard drive, 640 gigs (beautiful btw), but I couldn't transfer Rock Band saves over because they're copy-protected. Forgoing the old data, all I want to do is use my old Band Name, but this is giving me the indication that I can't use it online.
Question 1:
Is there a way that Rock Band can sync back up with my old online data, just so it knows what my old high scores were and lets me keep using my name?
Question 2:
Is there a way that I can tear down the old name on this website so I can recreate it on my PS3?
Any help is appreciated

On Xbox 360 at least (I assume it's the same on PS3), there's absolutely no way to use your previous band name if you lose your save data. Sorry, but you're out of luck.
As for question 1, you mean like having your game check the leaderboards and put the scores you had there back into your save? No, there's no way to do that.

If you have your old drive still, you can replace it in the PS3, do a full system backup to an external drive, put the new drive in and restore the backup.
This works, as you found out, copying the RB files does not.

For ALL copyright saves, they DO transfer back onto the PS3 using full system backup/restore if you restore on to the SAME PS3
I don't understand number 2

you can't put in the old HDD. the PS3 will try to format it. You could/should have used an external storage device of some kind anddone a full back up of the PS3. it will bypass any copy protecton as long as you restore it to a PS3 with the same serial number (ie same PS3)

Wow, that's a pain. Learned something today, time to go home!
Tks, Tealjbody.
