Okay this mod is only if your pedal is NOT cracked or broke, I've been reading all the treads on pedal mods and fixes, so I tried my own pedal reinforcement fix. If you don't mind using epoxy this is a great way to reinforce your pedal. It cost me about 14 bucks but she pretty solid now. The best price on the epoxy is at Wal-Mart you can get the 5 min for about $2.40 this works best, but be careful if you use the 1 min epoxy...this stuff gets very HOT, they were out of the 5 min so picked a couple of the 1 min.... my pedal was smoke'n and would burn you if touched the pedal in that area, so use the 5 min much easier to work with. All I did was fill all the cells on the bottom of the pedal and let it set over night ( just to make sure) and it's very solid now. (see Pic)

How come it cost you 15 bucks but one tub of epoxy costs 3 bucks was 1 tube not enough for the whole thing?

You know what I think?? I think HMX should be endorsing these mods, like telling us if we are pro-active and do these mods that they will NOT void our warranties. This way they will have less breakage and less returns. Right now I am thinking this is an awesome idea, but dang, if I do it, I lose my warranty. I don't know that I want to void my warranty. :s

I used the auto mix tip injector which cost more, it's not as messy, but if want you can mix it up in a bowl and just shove it in there, I'm sure it would be solid.

Hey Mickey,
How did you get the pedal off of the base. I can't seem to reach the screws, and i don't know how to remove the pedal from the base.

I used a part that came off my computer and screwed it in place. HAHA!
Good stuff!

Hey Mickey,
How did you get the pedal off of the base. I can't seem to reach the screws, and i don't know how to remove the pedal from the base.

At the bottom of the pedal there is a pin and on the right side is the small end and the left side is the big end. You have to have something that fits in the small end that is solid ( Like a nail set or something you can pound on that fits in there) I used a allen wrench they are tempered and there is size that fits in perfect, and then pound away, It's best to put it up right on edge on something solid, this will help break it loose.(be careful not to break it, just take your time) If you have the first gen pedal it's in there pretty good but don't worry it will come out. If you have newer pedal (November) I have heard they come out much easier. Also be careful when you put epoxy in the area under the orange plate it is lower than the rest and has the screw hole and magnet there.

i like the creativity, and i know it reinforces it some, but i have my doubts that it can still withstand a beating as something more solid like wood or metal. epoxy is good for bonding, but you can still break stuff off of it with enough force. id think the epoxy is just as brittle as the plastic.

When the pedal flexes is what starts the cracking, My pedal had about an ¼ inch or more of flex, after the epoxy almost none. if you stop the flex it shouldn’t crack.
Also this is a very sticky 1500 # epoxy and I roughed the surface a bit with sand paper, it not coming out.

If it still flexes, then it will still break (only it will take a lot longer).
It is plastic. Rigid plastic that flexes over and over again inevitably flexes and breaks.

I do think that your epoxy idea will lengthen the life of your pedal, though.
