View Full Version : Gimmicky instruments and bass guitar questions (Not what you might think).

I know what you're thinking, but a couple of questions:

1. We've seen the "gimmick" guitars in Rock Band and all the Guitar Hero games (Goat Head, Sythe, etc.), but where are the "gimmick" instruments for the drummer and singer? I mean, if my guitarist can rock out on a guitar shaped like a bomb, why can't my singer sing into a large lollypop or a soda (beer) bottle? Or why shouldn't my drummer be able to play a "drum set" that looks like a bunch of boulders or pots and pans or something?

2. Does anyone have any idea if, when single instruments are available for purchase, there will be a separate bass-style guitar available? I mean, I have no problem with using an identical looking strat for bass, but it would be nice to have a distinct looking bass guitar with a different head stock and color.

I'm not expecting any outright answers, but has anyone else ever wondered the same things?

As I was reading point #1, I figured I'd respond something like "Well yeah that's because you can't make anything funny out of a mic or a drum set" but it'd be pretty funny to see the vocalists singing into a beer bottle heh.

The first one I agree totally I mean who wouldn't want to sing into a giant candy cane. But for the second all you need is a different head stock for the guitar.

didnt quite have the same thoughts on #1 because i dont really like the "gimmicky" instruments BUT i do think vocalists and drummers current selection is pretty lame.

also agree itd be cool to see a seperate bass but then again i already have a whole pile of little plastic guitars so i wouldnt dream of buying another.

Thats cool, I already have 2 GH guitars myself from GHI (which are still going strong after four different games, btw), but those are for PS2. I personally cannot stand the Xplorer controller and there's no way in hell I'm buying GHIII again on another console just for the guitar, so I'd rather just pick up another Rock Band controller.

Also, I know all it really takes is a different head stock to make a bass, but basically I just want to know if thats going to be an option (2 sale models, 1 standard strat and 1 "bass" strat). I mean, I don't think they can just sell the head stock if there's technically no way to remove the current one without voiding your warranty.

Oh and one more silly question: As the guy above me states, February 4th is the expected release of wireless strats. There will also be wired ones available as well right? Silly, I know, but I personally just don't care for wireless controllers.

I think the guy was talking about the in-game guitars, fellas. The gimmick guitars are really "gimmicky". With really nothing for drums and the mic. Maybe in the future we'll see something.

Yah I totally agree, I was pretty disappointed when my hubbie could go and buy all these fancy guitars and that I am stuck with the same old mic since forever.
When I was a kid I would use a hairbrush as a mic, would be cool if they had one in the game, hahahahaaaaaa :D
