View Full Version : Problems with on-line players in Tug of War and Score Duel

As I was playing both Score Duel and Tug of War on XBox Live this morning, I noticed something that was very disturbing to me. I had roughly a 60% drop out rate when the person I was playing against was losing. I even had one person go so far as to use profanity against me over the voice chat when she was about to lose, and then bailed. I of course did negative player reviews of all the people that dropped out on me, however, I don't think that's enough.
So this is what I propose. We use this thread to start a list. If you have an experience like that while playing on XBox Live, or the PlayStation Network, list their Gamertag, or whatever Sony calls it here. When I get home in the morning, I will list all the folks that I've dealt with too.
Also, if you're going to lose, be a good sport about it and finish anywise. If you do that while you're playing against me, you'll always get props, and I'll even give you some tips to help you out if I can.
Thank you all, and for those on Live, I hope to meet you out there and rock with you!

All they really have to do is make the game impose a penalty for dropping out early.

The worst part of multiplayer is that it connects you to other people.

Yeah last night was actually the first time I went to go play some Ranked score duels and tug o' war. I'd been playing online band quickplay alot, but decided to try and get the 5-streak achievements for the duel/tug.
So the first two people I hooked up with on Hard score duel quit less than halfway through the song because they were losing. But the next 5 I played all stayed till the end and accepted their loss. The same happened with the next 5 who I played for Tug of War, all stayed till their loss.
So yay me, 2 achievements down.

Does quitting out count as a loss for the achievement? If not, then that's probably why it happens so much.
Otherwise, the only case where I could understand it is when you're playing a 9 minute song and it's clear after 30 seconds that you're hopelessly outmatched - spending a further 8.5 minutes waiting for the inevitable is not much fun :D
BTW I like how on your band's MySpace page, the guitar player is credited with Cowbell as well :D

I don't know if it counts as a loss for the quitter, but it certainly doesn't count as a win for the person who didn't quit the song. The very first 2 Score Duels I did were quitters, and it took another 5 wins after that to get the "win 5 in a row" achievement. I don't know if a quit will interrupt a streak either, like if you have 2 wins, someone quits, do you have to get another 5, or just 3?

Thanks :) He actually does play it during one song (that's not posted on our Myspace page), called "The Path". During the bridge when everybody's moshing, he turns around, grabs a drumstick and starts hitting a cowbell attached to the outside of my rack, here:
