we must owe him top respect, though he doesn't have the most talent in singing, he has very heavily influenced all aspects of music today

I like him. I think his best albums are Blood on the Tracks and Desire.

And even though he's not a great vocalist, there are a lot of songs that he sings so passionately that I can't imagine anybody else singing it. Like Tangled Up in Blue or Isis.

Agreed WingsOfSteel.

I had the great honour of seeing him perform live at the Ottawa Bluesfest this year. The man has a great talent and you haven't heard "Tangled Up In Blue" and "Highway 61 Revisited" until you've heard them live!

I don't really have a favorite album (although, Blonde On Blonde would be closest, not a bad song on there!) but favorite tracks include:
Tangled Up In Blue
Isis (Both studio and live version on "Biograph")
Highway 61 Revisited
All Along The Watchtower (I love the original, but his Jimmi Hendrix-esque live reditions are great)
Rainy Day Women #12 & #35 ("Everybody Must Get Stoned", to those who don't know the proper title)
Most Of The Time

All great tracks. He is espcially amazing for the variety he brings to his various albums.

Clapton is God, and Bob Dylan is Jesus. Everything Dylan ever did was beyond spectacular.

So, The Beatles were bigger than Bob Dylan?

wow i feel right at home in this thread...
anyone else here also like his new stuff? Big fan of Love and Theft. Floater, High Water, Mississippi, Po' Boy, Sad and Lonesome Day....man what an album

The only stuff i really avoid is the period between Slow Train Coming and Time Out of Mind (late 70's thru late 90's) of course there are MANY exceptions in that span but otherwise hard to go wrong for me

---Just got Tree w/ Roots recently. Not disappointed!:)
I'm always willing to chat about Dylan and the Band

I haven't listened to VOL 7. I checked out the track list it struck me as mostly outakes and such. I'll have to give it a listen. Just saw him last month here in town...opened the show w/ Leopard skin pillbox hat ...kickass!

I love the line in workingman's blues #2 off his new album
"I'll drag 'em all down to hell and I'll stand 'em at the walls, I'll sell 'em to their enemies."

live he said" .....hell I'll press their heads up against the walls.....:)
goddam i love Mr. z

Without Dylan, The Beatles are not The Beatles.

Sry, but that's not true. Beatles and Dylan started around the same years. Dylan has great lyrics and good music. I actually love his message and what he stood for but I can't say I'd listen to his music all day long. It's country inspired and... well i don't like country.

Like a Rolling Stone, blowin in the wind and all along the watchtower are great though.

My first comment on the forums! I was ignorant! And I posted on Christmas! That's cute!
