I read an old thread describing the problem I'm having connecting online with a friend of mine. It was closed and there didn't seem to be any solution. The latest post there was dated sometime last year. I'm just wondering if anyone had found a solution to this issue. My friend and have been trying to connect with each other for hours and still nothing. We are both using a ps3 and are using RB2 and seem to be connected the same exact way. Any solutions?

Who's inviting who? Hopefully you have tried both ways.
It could be an issue with one of your routers (or both). First thing to try is configuring your router so that your PS3 is on your "DMZ". Most routers have a "DMZ" feature and allows you to specify what IP address you wish to bypass all blocked ports from your firewall.

Evidently you haven't looked through the forums very much. There are about 6 or 8 ports on your router that you should be opening (several of them are listed in your owners manual for RB2 even), and if that doesn't work, then you should BOTH (you and your friend) DMZ your router. 99.9% of the time when you have connectivity issues with a game they are going to be in your router. (Been playing games long?) There are these things called Ports, that the game uses, that need to be open for the game, but the router doesn't know it unless you set it up. Search the forums a little harder than just looking at the first page of posts and giving up.

And before you complain about my tone, I post this almost exact same message 4-5 times A MONTH, so you evidently didn't look in the forums very hard...... please, before you have ANOTHER tech problem, actually look for a few minutes to find the problem, instead of being lazy and saying you looked while not doing so. Trust me. The answer is most likely out there, but it might be on page 2 or 3 of the forums....

So after 2 years of trying different suggestions and DMZ and port fwding but still not able to connect with some friends what's a guy to do? Please help! I will try anything at this point. Here's my info...Windstream DSL 1.5mb, Speedstream 4200 modem(bridged), Belkin Surf Router Part # F7D2301(I am wired to the PS3) NAT type 2, UPnP available, Firewall disabled.

crop29.... can you elaborate when you say "some friends"? Sounds like you have had some success, which makes me think it's an issue on your friend's side.
If you are certain your friends have the same exact NAT Type 2, then the only other thing you can do is swap out your router or bypass it completely and plug directly into your modem (causing a NAT Type 1). That will certainly rule out your Belkin router.
