i was just wondering, since their both connected through USB. it sucks for us PS3 users who are wanting 4 people to play at once and can't since their are no stand alone guitars for sale and the GH3 controler won't work.

Nope, won't work. It's basically asking if a 360 controller can work PS3 games.

no, they have something in it that will prevent it from working (that is what i read from someone else, I personally dont get why it wont.)

Because every console "talks" to their controllers differently. It's the same reason you can't use a Wiimote on your PS3 or 360. :rolleyes:

It's not that there's something in it that specifically prevents it, like a PS3-blocking-chip in the 360 guitar...They just don't work the same way. On the outside, they appear to do the same things, but the insides are quite different :)

well i mean i know why a wii doesnt cause its a whole different set up but thew guitar controllers are almost axzactly the same?

There would be an open standard for cross-platform controllers if not for Microsoft standards, according to a quote from a HMX developer appearing in issue 171 of Game Informer magazine;

If we had our druthers, the peripherals would work across all platforms. The tech would work, but there are special circuits that Microsoft requires that other console manufacturers don't.

If you plug the 360 guitar into the PS3, it will have a pop-up saying that there is an unknown USB device found and the guitar will light up and then shut off. I wish it would work though seeing as I have it for PS3 and my friend has it for 360 and we can't have four people going at a time.

On the outside they are the same not on the inside as posted above. The 360 Guitar is a 360 Controller and a 360 Controller will not work on the PS3. Simple, no other answers needed and it would be wrong to assume that they would work across.

This was a question, hardly an assumption.

In any case, seems that whenever us PS3 gamers make an assumption, we get shafted.

i don't think it would be wrong to assume. thats like assuming a tablet that you use on a PC, won't work on a MAC. but they do, even though both run differently. like someone posted earlier, Microsoft requires certain bits in their controllers that other companies don't.

Yeup, and it makes 'em more expensive. Be funny as heck if HMX patched support for 'em into PS3 RB anyhow though, eh? All of the sudden, the XBox360 Xplorer (GH2 guitar) would be available there...
