I have a concern. I mean, this doesnt affect me buying the game (much), but I mean, if theres not gonna be any, that would kinda suck.

Im talking about Metal. And I mean real Metal, not just the classics that any idiot in VH1 can mention. Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Pantera....I mean sure, if these bands are featured, like Metallica (if its the 80's stuff), Megadeth, Priest... thats great, awesome even. But Metal has evolved and moved on since, with bands that could rival even Maiden coming out to this day. Its survived, and everywhere in the world there are great bands that have come out since the 80s that are still strong (unlike most US Metal bands, like Metallica, that just arent the same anymore).

So Im wondering, how much real Metal will be featured in Rock Band in the long run? I mean, are there any plans for putting some Helloween, Iced Earth, maybe Symphony X (these last two are form the US by the way), Edguy, Grave Digger, Gamma Ray, heck, Id even settle for Morbid Angel....

Do metalheads have any hope in this, or not?

Dont get me wrong....I mean, who would be crazy enough to not want to play Rock Band jamming to Invaders, or The Trooper from Maiden?

Depends on the type... if it's very very screamy/growly... I doubt we'll see it... however Helloween and Edguy are two bands I'd like to see out of those.

Also I still want Within Temptation (for the goth rocker in me, lol) and Hammerfall to feature. Tho' I know WT is a VERY long shot as most of their songs rely heavily on keyboards, and so unless they could do a good job of making it sound good with the keyboards sounding quieter than normal (so the rest of the band could play above it...) it's highly unlikely to be in.

But please Harmonix... try!

not too much hope for the main setlist. but you can be sure they'll work something out for DLC

Yeah, itd be awesome to play Renegade!!! Or their version of Back to Back.

I also think growl vocals are a long shot (not Amon Amarth viking mayhem ;_; ), but yeah, Edguy, Blind Guardian, Iron Savior....the catalogue is huge!!

But maybe not so much doom...Who wants to play at slow tempos for 3 hours in front of their TV?

And whats DLC? Im new here.

DLC = Downloadable Content. Basically stuff that's gonna be released after the game, and for a small price you can nab it off the net, put it on your hard drive, and play til ya heart's content :).

and Renegade would actually be an amazing song, my personal two favourites tho' are Hearts On Fire (only problem being a lyric at one point that I'm yet to decipher... despite having the lyrics from the CD case in front of me each time), and Blood Bound.

Oh. I know what DLC's are, I just refuse to try and figure out acronyms.

I personally dont like those two. I mean, I like them, but they dont rock as hard. I think Hammerfall has been doing something wrong from Crimson Thunder onwards. I love Crimson Thunder, more than the last two, but my biggest itch is the sound. I cant stand how the drums sound.

Funny thing is... I actually prefer their stuff from Crimson Thunder onwards, lol :)

0.o Now, THAT I dont get. But, no matter. Its still Metal. I just dont like how they dont go that fast anymore. And the music its fine...its that drum sound, its horrible. I cant tolerate it lol If it wasnt for that, Id give Chapter V more chances.

lorddavid
07-23-2007, 10:13 AM
lol, funny again... 'cause I LIKE the fact they're playing it slower now (Never been a fan of bands that play fast for the sake of it really... Although I do admit they CAN go too far in that direction... the song Crimson Thunder, while entertaining, is prime example of that).

Also, dunno what ya mean about the drums... I've not really noticed a big difference myself.

LavatoryLoveMachine
07-23-2007, 10:40 AM
Its this drumming that sounds like they take the drumsticks and cover them with wet towels. Just a horrible, over bassed (if thats even a word) sound. I prefer the more clear sounding drums on Renegade.

Man, fast for the sake of fast....I think only DragonForce falls in that direction. They get lost in that speed and the songs turn out to be the same thing over and over.

Uh...duh...we NEED Metal in this game. Hammerfall, Dethklok, and even though Lordi is Hard Rock, they still sound pretty Metal.

Yeah, Metal is the best, that's all there is to it.

Wouldn't that mean Maiden are Rock as well, even tho' they're always described as Metal? 'cause Hammerfall and Maiden are pretty similar.

And I dun mean they got lost in the speed... but the song Hammerfall itself... is just fast for the hell of it, lol.

Agreed with Dragonforce tho', I've got one of their albums... and I only ever listen to one song off it, and that's the "slow" one (if you can really call it that, lol)

LOL there are no bands which have come out recently which can rival maiden. No recent band comes even close.

I'm just hoping for downloadable content. I think there's a snowballs chance in hell of getting real metal in this game.

LavatoryLoveMachine
07-24-2007, 01:26 PM
Yes, Stratovarius!!!

tharshmetalUK....thats personal opinion. Maiden is the best, the gods, but there are a LOT of modern bands that have nothing to envy Maiden. And thats a FACT. I mean, browse the Enciclopaedia Metallum once in a while, guy.

But, guys like Maiden and Priest are always gonna be gods. I mean, they defined what was Metal. Nobody can take that from them. But, you cant deny we have crossed a threshold. We cant stay in Priest and Maiden exclusively, not with bands like Savage Circus and Imagika out there, and Cage. As of now, cant think of new bands that kick ass. I mean, Savage Circus is new, but its power packed with experienced musicians. Oh, Persuader! Wolfcry also comes to mind.

Other cool guys to check out are Hanker. We have Metal to last us a hundred lifetimes.

Count me in for Stratovarius!

I mean i know european metal is....the best, hands down. That's basically what everyone seems to be talking about here.

Sonata Arctica, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, Moonspell, The Kovenant (HAH! I wish that was possible), Opeth, etc etc.

Personally, i would LOVE to see Womb with a View by GWAR, i know it's ridiculous, but nontheless...

Just listened to Iron Savior's new album. Great for download huh?

Playing GH 2 I noticed song packs are like 500 points. I thinks thats an awful lot. Hope our metal is not too costly, all the things we dream about playing in RB haha

I have an important question:

How do you pronounce "Edguy"? Is it Ed guy, like some guy named "Ed"? Or is it "edgy"? Or is it something else altogether???

Well, the fans of the band are called Edguys and Edgals, so....

I used to pronounce it Edgy cuz it sounds good.

Ok, the death metal crowd is always irrational, so Ill let this slide.

But we shouldt fight each other. death is still metal.

Dude, if you like Iced Earth (like me) then get a load of Pyramaze. You may already know about them, but if not here is a YouTube video of Legend. Matt Barlow, formerly of Iced Earth is the new lead singer of Pyamaze...but...Lance King is the one in this video, and he is amazing.

Oh yes, I knew learned of them the very week they made the Barlow announcement (cant remember if it was checking out Wikipedia with the hopes that he had returned to IE). I cant wait for them to give us samples with Matt!!!! \m/

And thanks for the link. For some reason I wouldnt have thought there were youtube videos of them.
