View Full Version : Keeping the Track List Secret...

Now, I can imagine a lot of people agreeing with me, and plenty disagreeing, but I think they should keep it secret. I always tell myself, before a Guitar Hero game comes out "Don't look at the full track list online! It will just ruin any surprise left in the game!" But, I always cave in and look anyway. And yeah, I get a little disappointed when a few of my choices aren't in there, but I'm more disappointed that I looked and ruined all the surprise. Now, I think Rock Band should keep the rest of their songs completely private, because I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who had the same dilemma. What do you guys think though?

That would be great if they played it off like they told us everything for example (40 tracks), and then the day of release it came with a bunch of other tracks (maybe even the first one). you know to really make people feel loved hehe

I think that revealing the tracklist early or in stages, provided they really put some thought into it, would only benefit sales.

Maybe I'm just talking from personal experience, but I wasn't too sure about pre-ordering Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s until they revealed the Limozeen song, and then I put the money down immediately. Hopefully, a tracklist reveal shortly before the game goes on sale will only draw in more people.

Give us everything and if you wanna look or not is your choice. Everybody wins.

yeah that is true...i think they will release like 20 or 30 songs to the public and keep the rest of the songs a secret.

I don't think it matters really, they should release them all. Why does it have to be a secret anyway? Its not like its the sAW movies or anything....:D

They could release some info, except mebbe the encore songs, and the final tier, leaving us all guessing until release day...

but even then, you know some plank, somewhere (whether it's from a supplier, or even a tester) is going to leak it online anyway.

I have to know it.

I'd like to sort of know the lyrics in case I have to do two things at once.

I think that's a dumb idea. Based only on what's been revealed so far, I wouldn't buy the game, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that isn't fully convinced yet.

I think they should tell what the track list is.. We are going to be paying for new controllers some of us more than one plus the game it isn't going to be cheap and for them to keep the track list a secret and then finding out when you get it home there are only maybe 4 or 5 tracks your interested in you would be pretty peeved that you spent that money even if there are DLC in which i think some would then be put off by them thinking they would be no better than the disc, Harmonix don't need to say anything about bonus tracks if there are going to be any.. just the main list.

QFT. You don't have to look if you don't want to, just avoid articles and threads titled "new songs announced!" etc...

It's hard to create a buzz soon before the game comes out if they release all the songs at once. That's why they release a few.. to get the game known.. It hooks your attention but you want to know what else is there, so you follow the games progress. If they gave them all out at once, there would be no reason to check in on the game for a lot of people.

It's allll marketing. Not to mention setlists could change at any time, as we well know.

I didn't say I wanted everything at once, and I don't expect them to announce it all at once, I agree with you completely. They haven't done that with Guitar Hero and they wont do that with Rock Band. I was saying that they should tell us everything, whenever they want to tell us and how much at once is all up to them.

I would guess that one of the main reasons they don't announce more tracks this early on is that it gives them the freedom to change which tracks are included based on feedback from the play testers. They can't really change their minds about a song once it has been announced without annoying a bunch of people. And also as someone else said, it's good to save a few big tracks until close to the release to create a big buzz right before it goes on sale.

Then i agree :)

I know them having released 16 songs is making me itch for the rest... so im on the site every day expecting new info. Plus the songs they did release will have at least one or two that appeal to everyone [or all of them in my case, hah] so it makes it easy to let people know about it.

SO PSYCHED FOR IN BLOOM, i air drum to that all the time.. one of my favorite grohl beats
