I just picked up some more points from future shop today and i'm trying to download some of the DLC but it keeps crashing on me. Is anyone else having this problem?

All of Xbox Live has been messed up since for several days now. People are reporting different problems but it's widespread and affecting all games not just Rock Band. They say they are working on it (And have been for several days...)but still hasn't been fixed. :(

Yep, what Evilmaz said.

I can't even get a game of Halo3 going, let alone a game of Rockband.

I'm guessing it's because:
1) Most people are off right now and the activity is really high
2) Combined with 1, there are a bunch of new xbox live players after xmas.

I should settle down in the next day or two. Surprisingly, this is the first time I've seen XBL get hit like this.

Today i couldnt access live from the dashboard or inside any games. I could play Small Arms over live though. It worked like a charm (even the in game dashboard that opens after you press the home button). It would disconnect me the second i quit the game. It would log in the second i opened it up.

I believe there was prolly a bug in the new dashboard update....It was acting kinda like this the first couple days the update went out also just not as bad. I had games where mics just not working, sign me in then directly back out, marketplace not working, ect.

prolly cause by...

Dashboard update + new live members from christmas

Seriously. Wtf. Why am I paying $50 a year for broken crap like this? Make it free and i wont be as pissed.

If there was during the time of ps2, when I was a fanboy, then id laugh at the xbox subscribers... But since im a subscriber... and this is the first trouble xbox live has had since i got 360 at launch ill cut m$ a break.

But i am pissed that all my games are affected, and I still cant link my stinking RB game

Its good to hear its not just me then.

As for the "why am i p;aying 50$ for this"
-Live is way better than anything else out there. If there happens to be trouble with it for 10days of the year we still get 355 amazing days loaded with special content. I think people take for granted how good xbox live is.

this "you get what you pay for" **** is rediculous. I got flamed relentlessly once on these forums for acting fanboyish toward consoles, and they were right, its unneccessary and only makes the person saying it sound like a complete douche.

yeah, we do get what we pay for, an expansive, well layed out and well working unified online service that rarely RARELY has any sort of problem. I have been an xbox live subscriber for five years, and this is the FIRST time i have EVER had this sort of problem. My ps3 hasnt had any problem like this because the ps3 doesnt get **** for traffic online, everyone's playing xbox, and alot of people this christmas just got new xboxs...

it'll calm in a few days.

I finally recovered my gamertag this morning after about two hours of attempts last night. That was fun. But not as fun as going to the Marketplace and seeing that they only had 8 tracks available for DLC. I just got Rock Band this weekend, so I'm hoping that this is only a symptom of the Live issues.

Did you only go to "New Arrivals" in the Marketplace? Because only the latest RB songs show up there. If you go into the Games section of Marketplace and go down the surpremely huge list, and go to Rock Band from there, all the songs should be present.

Ahh, gotacha. Yeah, I didn't do that, I just went to the New Arrivals. Cool, I'll check on that when I get home. Who cares if I've only been able to play five songs in the solo tour, I'm gonna buy all the damn DLC post haste.

Yeah, I think it has to do with the increased network traffic over the holidays. I guess a lot of people received XBOX 360s this year.

Here's the official word from the Live website:

Xbox LIVE Service Status
Status: Users may experience intermittent issues logging onto Xbox Live. Our engineers are continuing to investigate and are working to resolve this issue. We apologize for any inconvenience.

There's posts all over the xbox.com forums about the service difficulties. All I can say is, Microsoft obviously knows about it, and they're working on it.

I spent about an hour last night trying to get Live to work. I just kept getting the stupid loading icon. If that is the worst thing to happen to me then things are going well.

I have had my 360 since August and this is the first time I have run into an issues with Live. I am sure that MS will get it fixed as quickly as possible. Be patient, you can still play the game even if you are not online.

Yeah, like most others I have been with XBL since it launched. And this is the ONLY trouble I have ever had with it. So shut up and stop bashing Microsoft. Nothing is perfect. Want proof? Look to Sony.....

Nobody's perfect...

Sony with it's initial high price, Kuturagi and the games delays...
Wii's got supply issues...
XBOX 360 with its RROD (which has been fixed by the Falcon chipset)...

I'd say this generation has been a bit bumpy.

I had some problems with Live last night as I was trying to download some new songs for RB. It was intermittent though - I kept getting errors even as I was paging through the Marketplace.

I managed to download the content I was looking for, but only after several attempts.

Just be careful with it and don't recover your gamertag at a buddy's. When I brought mine back home it wiped all my gamesaves.
