View Full Version : How about a Harmonix podcast?

Insomniac had the right idea starting a podcast, and I think Harmonix would also be great because based on the blog entries, the team members seem to have a lot of personality. What Insomniac does is set aside some time to talk about their upcoming game (Ratchet and Clank: Future Tools of Destruction) in addition to commenting on the state of the gaming industry. What they also do is answer some fan mail on the air, and answer questions based on what they read on forums (though you guys do a great job keeping in touch with your fanbase here). But I think it'd be a really cool idea if you guys did a podcast every two weeks or so where you can tell us some bits on the game, or just talk.

Interesting idea... but I wonder at how much we can actually say every other week...

"In this week's podcast, we'd like to report that we've nothing to report..."

Though we could always talk about me and how awesome I am...

This is actually something I am working on - as well as a moderated Q&A chat with a dev. We may wait until we can announce a bit more, however so there is some substance to the show.
I like Kris' idea. Let's do it! I also demand we get a livefeed set up in the QA pit so everyone can watch us (especially me) work! Of course we couldn't do this until a lot more info gets announced, but still! It must be done! Come on guys! Back me up!

I really like the idea of a podcast of some kind. I think that an important distinction could be that it's a "Harmonix" podcast, rather than just a Rock Band podcast.

I know you guys don't have much to report about when it comes to Rock Band due to the marketing powers that be, but that's okay. Tell me some cool ??? about the making of Guitar Hero, and Frequency, and Amplitude.

After reading about your development house, I'd love to hear about the work done at MIT Media Labs pre-Harmonix and early Harmonix work with Disney and other stuff that's not even necessarily gaming.

Really, just interviews, interviews, interviews, and witty banter. Human interest pieces regarding your artists, musicians, and developers. I'm a developer, but I've never worked with consoles, I'd love to hear your developers geek out as heavy as it gets for as long as they want about the ins and outs of working with the PS2 and the newer generations of hardware.

It would also be a great opportunity for you guys to get in the groove regarding production work and such to get something nice together. Then when you have sweet ass new Rock Band info you can share, you'll have a little audience already built up and a couple shows under your belt.
