I know, I know, this ain't Harmonix or EA but it's not completely off the wall.
Amazon is offering Rock Band bundles at $200. No surprise right? Well interestingly enough the PS3 bundled guitar is wireless but 360's is wired. Makes sense. But GameStop offers both wireless...for now.
Has something changed? Or is it retailers, not EA, setting bundle prices?

It's certainly looking likely that the default bundles for the 360 will be stuck with a wired guitar for the sake of keeping the prices listed as the same (even if one is an inferior bundle). This is quite disappointing and a foolish move on Microsoft's part in not providing a cheaper solution in the implementation of their proprietary wireless technology for the console.

I don't think that they would release one bundle with a wireless and the other with a wired. That's kind of unfair to the console that would be getting wired. I'd prefer to have one wireless and one wired for my setup, but I still don't think it would make much sense with a differential in the consoles.

Hmmmm... yeah. I'm still gonna hold out for the official word. But damn I hope they don't make the wired version part of the main bundle for the 360 :( I would cry...
But I'm keeping the faith! And not believing anything until THIS site release something!

The problem is Microsoft's "wireless tax". There's some problem with using wireless wth their system. There were no wireless guitars for the longest time for the 360.
It's stupid, and it's just going to make sales suffer. There are going to be some people who don't have a 360 or a PS3 (like me) and are going to make their decision to buy based on what the bundle comes with.

the "problem" is MS's propietary RF technology. The 360 will only sync wirelessly with official MS products. Because it's MS's technology they have been hesitant to let otehr copmpanies use it. Especially Red Octane because they make all kinds of third-party controllers. For what it's worth though it's a solid technology for connection perpherials to the system.

yea we all know but that doesnt mean anything is set in stone. If they end up not making a wireless controller for 360 that doesnt mean gamestop os obligated to provide their preorders with a wireless controller, because it simpky wasnt made. Personally i dont really care as long as the bundle costs 200. I wouldnt mind a wired controller because it saves me from having to charge the controller, and honestly while i do move its not like i go absolutely crazy or play very far from the tv. i dont see what the big deal is

Ya i agree i really dont see what the big deal about wireless is either, i guess with the mic (not being connected to the controller) it would be nice. As for the price and bundle, i think its pretty safe to say this is final. Cause i just can't see how all these companies cant list the exact same thing and be wrong.

One company lists a price, and then everyone else copies it?

They did it with the pre-priced 360s before launch.

I kind of prefer wired, because I don't want to change batteries that often, and any Wireless lag becomes too noticeable in rhythm games. Just put a 16 ft cable on it by default so we don't have to buy usb extensions.

I've heard that too. Powerslides might be out of the question, however, simply knowing that every note will hit, without lag (not saying the current controllers have this problem, but there's always that chance!) is worth the wire.
If you have the HD-DVD player, you've picked up an extra USB port, so you have 4 right off the bat if you have that. If I had to pick ONE thing to be wireless, it would be the microphone. That seems like something that could sit on a charging station while not in use.
If it comes with a hub, I just hope it has at least a 20 - 25 foot cable as I have an equipment room in my home theater and will need a run to get to the middle of the room so I can set the "stage" in there. I'll be the place for the parties as I've got a 110" screen in there to rock out to. :)

that would certainly tick me off if ps3 gets a wireless guitar in the bundle and 360 doesn't.. same with the ps3 wireless guitar being cheaper than the 360s.. grrr

You got to throw the PS3 owners a bone here or there. I mean, all they've had after Resistance is Blu Ray movies. They need to get some sort of return on investment for the PS3 purchase, right? ;)
Let them have the wireless. I'll take the better online play with the 360. :p

It most likely will due to M$oft.

Either way, I'm buying that bundle. My TV's only 42", I don't need a 25 foot cable, what I do need is a microwave in my basement for snacks. I'll never leave the TV over christmas break, well, maybe to go play with my real rock band, otherwise I'll be playing rock band, or working.

Dude, I would love to see a pic of your set-up once you get Rock Band! I'm assuming you use a projector (me too!) and I'm so jealous you can use a screen size that big. I use mine in my room and can only mount it so my screen is about 60" (which is actually pretty huge, but still).

I've got a 65" RP HDTV. It made shopping for a new home pretty difficult. You'd be surprised how many houses don't have a room suitable for a TV that size...

So there won't be a wireless 360 guitar at all? Not even a more expensive bundle?
Whatever, I'll just get the PS3 version then.

There will be a wireless. Whether it's bundled or not is unconfirmed.

Wireless vs Stellar Online Play
Pick one as that seems to be the trade-off...until more official news.
