Can't get LINK TO GAME to work

It's pretty simple.. and yet I can't get it to work. I know my windows ID, have the PW. Have it linked on the xbox live as my "current windows live ID" yet still can't get it to work.. any ideas? :/ hopeing maybe this is just a bug on the site? -.-

I'm having the same problem. I've made sure it's the Windows Live ID that's attached to my XBL Gamertag, I'm logged out of everything Windows Live ID related, I enter my password, and it tells me that there's no Rock band account linked to that ID. :/

Any help would be appreciated.

Even when you get lucky enough to get it finally link like I did, Nothing goes right. Rank Not Found in the Leaderboards, Wrong Number of Fans, Band members not showing up. About the only thing that does update is your Quote and Favorites list, Whoopie.

If you get a reply it will say " We are aware the issue and we are working on it."

Good luck, till then all we can do is Rock Out and hope this site doesn't die off due to there technical problems.

I stopped reading after the 3rd page or so but I am having the same problem and I assume it has something to do with the XBL servers that are associated with retrieving and linking this data. My account on guitarhero.com is linked and was updating for a week or so but about 2-3 weeks ago it stopped updating properly. It's gotta be related, I think it probably has something to do with the sheer volume of people playing the games and using these websites. Hopefully it is sorted out sooner rather than later.

I think it is a combination of Rock Band site and Xbox Live. I got my account linked but for a while it had no bands and then a band popped up one day but I have already deleted that band in game and now I am waiting for my newest band to appear on the site again. I am sure it will show up guess it just takes time.

is it only the XBOX 360 users that are having this issue? I've had the same problem where is says there is no Rock Band data linked to this account. Maybe it has to do with XBOX live because Live has been having some server issues beginning in December. That's my guess at least. And I hope once the servers get stable again, we'll be able to link our accounts

Just a thought - Guitar Hero III's community page had the same deal. This is purely speculation on my part, but here goes:

We all know how the internet works, at least I like to think so. Every webpage out there is run by a computer, somewhere. Now, let's say you have ten people visiting the site at the same time. The computer needs to handle ten people's requests, sometimes simultaneously. Imagine if you worked at a restaurant, and suddenly ten people all showed up at once and demanded food right now, it'd be tough.

Now, let's think about Rock Band. I would wager it's already sold upwards of 100,000 copies, but that again is purely speculation. I myself have been excited for this game since I heard about it last year and I know I'm not alone. Now all those people, or a good percentage, are trying to link their accounts, and just as it happened on the GHIII community the RB linking process can't catch up fast enough.

Don't get me wrong - I think it's lame too. But that's my best guess as to why it's not working, and just telling you that there isn't some douchebag up in management who decided we don't need to link, it's a technical issue and those get hard to fix when we're talking about a userbase this huge.

Hey guys, after looking into it, and trying it out, this is what i found:
(Most of this is just experience + educated guessing, so don't quote me if i am wrong)

There appears to be a 4-5 day delay in information sending between playing, and it showing up on here.

I have come to this conclusion because, I purchased my game on Friday, Jan 4th, and played on Saturday, Jan. 5th. Up until today (Jan 10) I was not able to link my live account to my profile, it gave me the cannot find Rock Band data. As I am now finally linked, I find the data on my profile to be consistent with my first day ( Saturday ) of playing. Assuming there is a pattern here, tomorrow should have the data from my playing on Sunday, and so on and so forth. The same holds true for my brother's Xbox live as well.

Best suggestion would be.. keep playing Rock Band and try linking in a few days.
I'm sure as Xbox live and Rockband progress and work out issues the delay in information will be cut down to a minimal.

Seems like this thread has died out, but I'm still having this problem. I've just registered for the site today but I've been playing Rock Band on my 360 since November and when I try to link to game I get the "This gamertag does not have any Rock Band data associated with it." message.

At first, I couldn't even get to the page that allows you to enter your live ID and password, but I realized the linking service doesn't seem to work at all in Firefox. After trying IE I get to the page, but after signing in I get the "no Rock Band data message" again. I've followed all the instructions carefully, so I really don't understand what's going on. If you read the instructions, you will note that you are supposed to log out of all windows live accounts, then figure out what email address is associated with your account, and then log in with that when prompted. Did you do that?

If you've logged out properly (and nothing else weird is going on) that link should take you to a log in screen.

There are a few different issues smattered throughout this thread. I will address them in a very broad manner right now.

1. Clear your cookies - there is a known issue with error messages and the Windows Live ID login page. Sometimes it's as easy as clearing your cookies and starting the process over.

2. One or two issues are bugs on our side that we believe are fixed (if you were receiving Duplicate Entry errors, this should be fixed as of today). Please clear your cookies and start the linking process over.

3. For those receiving errors that say "no data" associated with this account, again, try clearing your cookies. Also, check the in-game leaderboards to make sure your data has been properly uploading to Rock Central. If you have anything up on the in-game leaderboards, it should be showing up when you link your account.

Please let me know if any of this helps - also, if you continue to experience issues, any additional information you can provide would be really helpful.

I cleared my cookies on Firefox, no luck. Cleared my cookies on Internet Explorer, no luck. I checked my scored on the Rock Band Leaderboard, my scores are there.

OK...I am new at this to and just spent over an hour and needless to say was almost ready to throw my laptop accross the room. I am not 100% sure this has anything to do with it, but I am using Windows Vista on my laptop. I used my desktop to try and OMG, there it was...First try and I was ready to go!!!!! It has Windows XP on it! So maybe that is the cause of some trouble. Also, could it have anything to do with people using wireless connections during this process?? Because I was also on wireless internet and wasn't sure weather this could pose a problem. I hope this helps some of you!! Peace!:cool:

I'm a PS3 owner and cannot get the game to link. I have cleared all cookies and temp Internet files (IE7) on two separate computers. I have tried every possible interpretation of the code as far as capitalization and numbers that could possibly be mistaken as letters (and vice versa). No matter what I try or when I try it, I get:

Even if it is 'bad' news a simple "we have seen your msgs" and some mention of what is being done, or if something is being done would be nice. Leaving the PS3 users hanging out to dry is a bit ridiculous.

Yeah, same problem as other PS3 users here. Got the game yesterday, can't link to my game account. Sent an email to Harmonix support last night before finding this forum, not so much as an automated response received. I'll subscribe to the threads dealing with this ongoing problem in case someone gets around to fixing it, but for now I've given up trying to link my game to my web account.

I am not saying this is a fix but it is worth a try if one of you 1000 people that posted want to try this or if you have already ....let the class know so we can narrow down our options. I did this and Im not sure if it just happened to correct itself coinsidentally with the changes i made... or if the changes fixed it. I created a new windows live account because the underscore that was in my live adress didn't agree with certain things that xbox live was doing. I called xbox live tech support and gave them my new id. now im linked.

Hi all,

We know a lot of you are having difficulty with linking your account. I’ve asked the Harmonix team that runs the web site and we have the following steps for you to try:

1)You will need to have Rock Band data attached to your Xbox Live or PlayStation Network account in order to link your account. If you only recently started playing Rock Band, you should give the system at least 24 hours since the first online play session before linking your account.

2) If you can't link the account successfully after 24 hours, clear all of your cookies and close all web browser windows. Start your web browser again, go to www.rockband.com/rockers_home, log in and try to link your account.

If this still doesn't work please send the details of your issue and all the steps you have tried to HMXJohnlok, as unfortunately neither EAxViolet nor I have the necessary tools to resolve this for you.

Well, now I'm trying to follow this new advice, and just to be sure after clearing cookies and trying a new browser, I went into my game to double-check my game's code, and now the Get Website Code button is greyed out and I can't retrieve the code anymore! I'm signed in to the PSN network, and can play online. Anyone know why this is happening now? Also, I tried the code I remember (I must have entered it 50 times, so I'm pretty sure I know what it is even if I can't see it), and still no luck linking the account. Still getting the "incorrect information" error.

I posted in another thread about this, but this one seems to be where it's at.

I originally set up my PSN account on my friend's PS3 since he doesn't really do the online thing. We played some rock band on there, made a band and whatnot. So finally I got my own PS3 and Rockband, made a new band with the girlfriend and all that. So I went to link to the game the other day, that worked out just fine oddly enough. The issue I'm having is that only the bands and characters that were made on my friend's PS3 are showing up on my profile and nothing that has been made on my PS3. I'm using the same PSN login and I used the website code from my copy of rockband. It's been 2 or 3 days since I linked to the game, and it's still the same thing.

Any ideas?

Well, I followed MetroJack's advice and sent a PM to HMXJohnlok regarding my continued inability to link my game to my website account. I got a reply, which basically consisted of "we know there's an issue, we're working on it & we'll update you when we know more, thanks for your patience." So for now I'm playing the waiting game, I guess, until I hear that some progress has been made. Sigh.

PS3 same bullsnit here. It says one or both of the id numbers are wrong. I checked them 100 times, cleared my cookies and opened a new window. I have been playing for 3 weeks and my psn is attached on my PS3.

The good news is I got an extra guitar today. wooohoooo but I had to buy a PS2 bundle and take the guitar out to get it. I bought a guitar hero guitar and put in the box and sold it to my buddy. Their guitar is better anyway we're both happy.

Yeah I get the same crap too. I've tried different PlayStation Network accounts and different Rock Band accounts and still no luck. I also call an EA "Technician" and he said I have a "corrupt game that generates faulty codes" and that I need to send it to EA and get a replacement...

I have also had problems linking with my PSN account. I have been trying for a couple days now.

I have been playing the game for a week, and have followed the advice in the forums about clearing the cookies and ensuring I have the correct code (lower case digits are numbers, raised are letters).

If we can't link, can we instead search the leaderboard to find our scores?

I would prefer being able to link, but searching would be a temporary fix.

I have so far downloaded 3 song packs, but I will not be downloading any more until this issue is fixed for.

Same issue here... I hate to post a "me too" but it's frustrating when simple things like this don't seem to work. Between this and the extremely confusing mess that is the guitar controller debacle you'd think that someone over at Harmonix would realize that when a customer has to take the time to deal with this junk (much less take the time to register an complain about it) it completely derails and ruins the whole experience.

Outside of playing the game (which is great and a lot of fun) everything else having to do with Rock Band has been an absolute ********** piece of ***** ******. ***** ********* *********!! Does anyone care anymore? Thank god we all got hard drives and Internet connections into our consoles before game developers started shipping all of this crapware that doesn't work! How hard is it to box up and sell an extra guitar, really? Three months, apparently -- but only if you are the braindead zombie that signs off on pro formas for Harmonix....

You'd think at the very least they would put a note on the account linking page saying that if you're a PS3 user and get the "incorrect information" error that it's a known issue that's being looked into. That alone would probably prevent about 90&#37; of the new threads that people start when they run into this problem. Of course I would prefer if they would just figure a way to fix the problem entirely, since it is clearly widespread in the PS3 community.

I am boycotting DLC until this is fixed.

If you don't affect the bottom line, there is no incentive to get this fixed.

I cant get my PS3 to link to the rockband website. I have the correct game code and correct PSN ID and it tells me I have one or more wrong entries. But my Information is correct. When I playing the game it saves it to the rockband community. I can check the stats of all the songs every place and I show up on the stats but I cant get my stats to link to the rockband website. Is anyone else having the same problem or what? If someone can help let me know.

Why would you boycott DLC just cause you cant link it yet? That doesn't make sense to me why someone would do that. I am pretty sure that they are trying to get it fixed cause they dont want the rockband community getting pissed and telling the next person not to buy the game. That hurts them more than not getting the new DLC.

The reason to boycott DLC is to provide financial incentive to get Activision and HMX to fix the problem.

Unless there is some impact to the cash flow, there is little reason to fix the problem.

They have our money from the game purchase. So except for a little bad PR from the forums, unless you do something which impacts them Activision and HMX have shown by not responding to this issue that they don't really care much about it.

They do however, judging by the way they deal with the DLC threads, care about making money off of us through the DLC program.

The letters will be in all caps, while the rest of the code is numbers. So, modify your input to follow that schema.

Linking still doesn't work, at least for a great many of us. This has gone from a minor annoyance to a...well...a major annoyance. :)

I tried to link today and it worked. But all the band information is wrong. I have duplicate band characters and 1 even has a name before my character name. (if that makes any sence) To top it all off, the band name is a name I made last month. I re-named the band a few days ago. Does the info get updated? Will all my current stats change to match with what I have on the game?

I will wait it out if it is in the process of being fixed and if it don't get fixed then I will just have to live with it..........

I am also having problems. None of my scores seem to be updating to the server, even though the game says it's communicating with the server.

My gamer tag has a space in it.. I'm wondering if that is a problem. Do all you other problem users have anything odd about your gamertag?

Yeh, I gave up trying last month.
I have finished guitars and drums on Hard and halfway through Expert
but cant view my stats or even see anything on the Leaderboards.
Its like the Game only updates for certain areas of the country. (IL here)
Oh well, needless to say, I was rocking out, notice the word "was"...
I actually gave up playing the game.
Maybe when the stats are fixed, I'll return..
