I think this would be cool option. As you download new songs you can choose to replace other songs in at least the singleplayer section of the game. You could swap out songs you really hate for songs you really like. What do you think?

That actually sounds kind of cool. I remember having to play through songs that I absolutely hated and took forever in Guitar Hero 2 (War Pigs, here's looking at you), but being able to buy songs and allowing them to replace songs in the career mode sounds pretty sweet.

I hate that about some songs... Crazy on you, wicked intro, wicked song altogether but.. goddamn, it just went on too long. If it was 4:30 or so and they had cut out a verse it would have been perfect (Not that i expect them to) but i always end up turning that song off halfway through. War pigs too... after the solo its exit.

Yeah, I got to the point where I eventually fell in love with the practice mode and just started playing the awesome solos on songs I didn't like that much.

This all goes nicely with the "create your own setlist" option that has been discussed. I'm beginning to wonder if all of our suggestions are in vain, seeing as how they are testing what is close to a final product at the moment.
The suggestions for Rock Band 2 perhaps?

They did employ a lot of suggestions from the GH1 boards for GH2, which i was pretty happy to see. So i wouldn't be surprised to see a good number of our suggestions in RB2 (I wont even question the possibility of a sequel. This game will blow everybody away and it's inevitable :D)

I agree 100% that is kool.

will there even be a rock band 2?
I mean the only big differences from GH1 to GH2 were graphics, characters and songs. now you can download songs and create characters.
Why not just have downloadable visuals upgrades? if that's possible.
and maybe some new features too.

I hope it will take some time until Rock Band 2. I want more downloads for Rockband than there are for Guitar Hero 2. (I mean, they said "Expect downloads for GH2, really cool feature for the Xbox version", and all we got so far were 3 track packs with songs from GH1. I just don't want that to happen with Rockband. So I hope they rather concentrate on DLC for Rockband than on Rockband 2.)

Actually... rather than being able to replace songs in the sets, which I personally think would be a bad idea (Unless it was well implemented... someone could get things unlocked in the game simply by replacing a tougher song with an easier one).
My view would be... what about occasionally releasing a new "set" of songs (Mebbe 15) as a block that you can buy, which becomes a full on concert (With the ability to save between songs... 'cause y'know... what if ya have a power cut or something), it can be either, essentially, an entire album, or mebbe a bunch of different bands.
Also, if programmed right, it could just work as an expansion to the game, when the game loads up and searches the hard drive for additional content, it spots that, and it writes itself into the game as a new option.
That way HMX could add the feature in belatedly still. :)

This could still be handled quite easily, they just have to assign every song a rating, then depending on where you were in the campaign, you'd have to choose songs for your setlist that was either at or above your current level. I definately like this idea of being able to take any DLC song you have and use it to build your set list for the world tour campaigns. Very awesome...just imagine the replayability that would provide...eventually, when there's enough DLC out there, you could go through the entire campaign playing a certain genre of music, basically you can decide what kind of band you are, metal, alternative, classic rock, etc, and only play songs out of that genre (assuming we eventually have enough DLC to do that). It'd be a completely different experience from the first time you played through the campaign w/ just the on-disc songs.

Well, I think you have to beat the campaign first and only then can you make custom ones. That should take care of any cheat issue.
Togfather: that's exactly what I'm hoping for.

Combine the Maggot Brain's and TheTogFather's ideas and we're onto a winner!
You can DLC content all you wish... however when you complete the game, you then have the chance to (on that difficulty ONLY (i.e. if you complete it on Easy, it's tough **** for Expert editing)) you can put in anything you wish to replace the songs, but it's based on the difficulty rating (say no stars for the first tier, and a half a star mebbe for the encore track, tho' the encore track could just be from the same stuff allowed for tier 2).
Just do that up to the top tier, and you have yourself one rocking edited chart.
Proof there that two heads are better than one (that means you two... not me, I just put them together, lol)

Switching songs out would be cool
and aobut RBII
One thing that i would love to have in it is you import a song (mp3) from your computer and there is a pace to go and add notes in so that you can make songs that aren't normally in the game

How 'bout instead of replacing it, it just sticks it in with the other songs in a set (each song will have its own set ranking) and you still only have to complete the 4 or 5 songs to continue, so if there were 5 songs in set 6, and you downloaded a Metallica song that goes in that set, it'll put itself in there and you still only have to complete 5 of the songs to move on.

Nice idea... until you figure that you could potentially be scrolling through a good 20 songs per set at times, lol.
Also... you should be able to put harder songs in the easier tiers, just not vice-versa... that way, someone who just wants to play the tougher songs can, but you can't just go through it a second time completing all the easy songs.
Tho' saying that... if you've already completed the game, what's it really matter where you place the songs? lol.

Decent idea.......not really very worthwhile though. Kinda reminds me of a setlist mode where you pick which songs you'd like to play, like a real concert. i'd love that

Adding to that theory, Instead of a block of 15 songs, maybe sort the songs placed on DLC into the Rankings i.e. if it were GH2 sort them by Opening Licks, Amp Warmer... up to Face melter's, You get the point? then just have some one choose a song ( or a few songs) from each group to create there own 2nd set list ..... gives them a bit more choice.
oh and still keep full Album downloads, A bit far fetched I guess, but would be cool

That would be infringement of copyright. Even if Harmonix wanted to do that, that would get a back-hand slap from MTV and the record labels.
What would the point be in making a new game if you could just do that? No-one would buy DLC if you could do that and you could say it encourages illegal downloads.
