Looking at all of these vidoes online pertaining to Rock band i've wondered something. What kind of options will the microphone have??? The voice of the original singer (eg. david bowie) was in the background while someone would be singing Suffragette City. It kind of worries me since the more noise in the background the harder it is for the microphone to pick up your voice. Owning the karaoke revolution games led me to this assumption. Harmonix please let us be able to lower the volume vocals on the song just like in KR!! Maybe even throw in some sort of voice changing effects options??? I for one am selling everything I own so I can rock out on the blessed day of this game's arrival. Rock on Harmonix.

I'm sure I remember somewhere, where you can have the actual track taking over as long as you're hitting it right yourself, OR you can have yourself be heard... So it does sound like at the least there will be an on/off button, but hopefully it'll be more of a fade on it, so you can just fade the vocals down to almost off, so you can just barely hear them for your own benefit.
As long as it's not like Singstar, I'm happy... 'cause that just played the video and you had to copy the singing style... while it played the original track plain as day on top of it, the only volume control was on your mic itself.

I'm sure you can. Because they said themselves "Everything sound-wise will be completely customizable, you can make any instrument as loud or quiet as you want." So I'm guessing that can turn off the voice if you want. Or just make it really really quiet. Even in Guitar hero, you can make it so you can only hear the band and not the lead guitar, or only the lead guitar, and no band.

The voice is either always off, or always on with an adjustable volume with your voice projected with it, this was stated during an E3 preview.
So you can either turn it off and provide all the vocals, or leave it on and make it quiet so you overpower it, or turn it up so you can't hear your own voice. Whatever you want to do.

It's funny you say it's the least liked because that is so true. I mean any USB mic will do. It's nothing special.

Only question left then is... will the volume be able to be controlled while in game, in that will there be a knob on the guitars/drums/mic to turn the volume up/down from there, rather than having to do so from a menu, 'cause that'd be cool, and would be better than having to keep guessing it.

Doubt it. Just doesn't seem like very fluid gameplay to grab a knob and mess with the sound.
