Well, there is actually more to german music than just Rammstein. (I hate this band...)

There are bands that sing in english and would be great for Rockband. And there are bands that are great but sing in german, so they won't be in Rockband, although I hope that we may get them as DLC. (only in Germany/Austria/Switzerland probably)

Anyway, I wanted to show you those bands, so that you know that there are some awesome german bands out there.

First, the ones that would work in Rockband:

Beatsteaks - Jane became Insane
A very popular german band with awesome live performances. This is their song Jane Became Insane, very catchy song.

A german punk band. This song was actually already featured in a game once, in Konami's Guitar Freaks and Drummania. (as far as I know)

Wir sind Helden - Guten Tag
This is a great song. WSH have many great songs actually, but this is one of the best. (It was featured in a FIFA game once too, as far as I remember)

Die Aerzte - Schrei nach Liebe
Die Aerzte are probably the most popular german punk band ever. This is one of their best songs ever. (love the Video too) This is an ANTI Nazi song btw, and yeah, they say the german word for "*******" a lot. :p (in this song, not in generel)

The Beatsteaks are about as far as I've gotten with German music and they are amazing. A friend of mine was supposed trying to get a tour set up with them...hopefully they come to the states.

Jane Became Insane is my favourite song so far, it would be really cool to have it in the game.

Hmm... try a different Helden song then. Echolot is great for example. It starts of slow but has an awesome riff at 1.22 and at the end of the song. I love the voice of the singer btw.

I don't like it. It's the singing that makes me not like it. It was better in that song, but that would be a little slow for RB.

You didn't like the singing? I think she has a beautiful voice. Anyway, I love the song. And slow... hm, maybe but still playable and fun. And the ending is not slow anymore, or let's say, has a nice solo.
Ah well, something like this won't be in the game anyway. :p

I'm a big fan of Die Aerzte, actually. I studied abroad in Germany in '98, which was about the time Maenner sind Schweine was on the airwaves. They had that frickin' hilarious video with Lara Croft in it, which I saw on their version of MTV every 20 minutes or so.

Anyways, there are a ton of kick-ass German bands. I give two thumbs up to pretty much all the songs you've listed so far.

I just hate the singing (if you can call it that) and how he talks, sounds like german from 60 years ago. Terrible.
And the melodies they make aren't great either.

Wow. Do you remember the last band in my first post, Juli?

I just found out that they just did a new song together with the American Band Dashboard Confessional (which I find okay btw, I love the song "Hands Down"!)

Anyway, that's the first time I hear Eva (the singer of Juli) sing in English and the song is great. Well, it's more of a slow romantic song and I don't know how well it would be for Rockband, but it's a nice song anyway, and I wanted to show how great german bands are. ;)

I actually just listened to KMFDM for the first time, they are rather good! I have to look up their stuff.

I didn't even know Helloween and Blind Guardian are German, shame on me!
Rammstein and Blind Guardian have some nice songs, and Rammstein would probably have the best chance of getting in.

Has anyone mentioned the Guano Apes? Although their music probably isn't interesting enough to play.
Die Ärzte are great, but I guess they aren't even half as fun if you can't understand the lyrics.

@Five: There is an english version of "Von Hier an Blind"?? Didn't know that, although I'm a big Helden fan. But I have to say the english version kinda sucks. The lyrics doesn't fit the song very well. (OMG, I just see there's a french and a japanese version as well!!)

Helden have better songs anyway, like I said, I would suggest Soundso or Echolot.

I agree, I don't like the English version much and it doesn't have quite the same meaning as the German song.

Actually, besides Aerzte and Dick Brave (who is aweful) (and Farin of course) I don't know any of the bands you listed. They're probably not really that popular in their own country. :p

Kettcar is a nice band btw.

The Beatsteaks would be my ultimate choice, see my thread (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61806&highlight=beatsteaks).

Kettcar would be really awesome although I doubt this will ever happen. Handyfeuerzeug Gratis Dazu and Graceland and Kein Aussen Mehr from their new album would be so much fun.
Some Tomte songs would also be very cool like Norden der Welt, Realitiy TV or Du Bist Den Ganzen Weg Gerannt.

And we also need more Hosen. Hier kommt Alex is great, but what about Schönen Gruss, auf Wiederseh'n, Bonnie & Clyde, Kauf Mich!, etc. or what about Bayern and eisgekühlter Bommelunder :D

The Sportis would also be a great addition, Ich Roque would roque :) or (Tu nur das) was dein Herz dir sagt and the already mentioned songs. The most awesome thing ever would be 54, 74, 90, 2010 for the World Cup 2010

oh, sorry, my mistake. I don´t like Cheap Trick and so I don´t listen to their stuff. As you said this I looked up their song and damn, the Beatsteaks covered this song. So no Beatsteaks for me :(
