It's hard to explain the joy you glean from this game when all 4 members of the band are on point hitting all the notes and beats on time. It's one of those magical moments that you usually achieve in games only on rare occasions. It happens once every couple of minutes in Rock Band. You feel like a part of a greater whole and it is easy to lose yourself in the fantasy. Pricing will be difficult but if what we played is any indication, it will be worth every penny.

Never thought I'd say this but I am actually more stoked about Rock Band than Halo 3, or MGS 4. Funny how all the big games this year except Rock Band are sequels.

Rock Band should totally win game of the year. All the other "great" games that are coming out this year are sequels. Rock Band is very original and is really doing something that games haven't done before. Besides giving you the chance to play in the band, the weekly DLC downloads is something never done, as well as full album downloads. I think Rock Band has a definate chance of game of the year, it gets my vote!

It looks like a lot of the people that have never played it (besides fans of GH1 and GH2) don't really care for it but anyone that actually has played it pretty much loves it.

There are so many good games coming out this year, that I've had to limit what games I actually MUST buy and have top priority...Rock Band definitely made that list thanks to E3 (the other games being Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy).

I'd agree with you there Xzyliac. This game and Call of Duty 4 grabbed my attention at e3 this year. Those are MUST haves for me. Of course, I'll get GHIII simply because I like to play the game and love music.

Well, no, they are not all sequels. Think Mass Effect or Assassins Creed. (And even Bioshock is not a direct sequel to System Shock)
Anyway, I think Rockband has good chances for GOTY. But hmm... it's going to be hard. This year is one of the best Videogame years ever. And Assassins Creed and Mass Effect rock! So it will be hard. I think Mass Effect should probably win, because it was definitely the harder work to create it. :)
