How come when you sing in an online match, the other person cannot hear you, but you can hear them? I wish they could hear you

Lag, lag, and lag again. You may want your compatriots to hear you, but trust me, they're glad they can't. It's hard enough for me to keep on rhythm when my husband gets off-track on some phrases, I can't imagine how impossible it would be with constant lag throughout the entire song.
