While I like a bit of metal in my life, I can't say I care for this really really hardcore style with all cookie monster vocals. I will say however that these songs must be fun to play, and I totally respect the musicians, as the music itself is amazing. I just don't care for the vocals.

Anyway, my question is how would the drums work for this? I play the drums in real life and there is no doubt these metal songs would be challanging, so I am very excited for this game, but most of these songs are almost all double bass, making it impossible to play them at this point in time? Is harmonix planning on a double pedal in the future or something?

Something called Guitar Hero and metal plays better on a guitar game than a all-around game.

This question has been answered before in other posts, Rock band is not about playing an actual kit your hitting the pads or pressing the kick pedal to activate the notes on the screen.. the notes have pre-determined sounds assigned to them depending on what the track requires ie if the kick requires a double kick sound then the notes would play that sound regardless of you only press a single kick pedal.. i'm a drummer myself and even i understand this concept why others don't is beyond me.

Also if your interested as a drummer there are single kick pedals that have duel beaters that provide double kick without the need for a second Kick drum / Pedal i use one myself.. here's a link to what i use, so you see its not impossible. :)

Id be careful with the use of the word "hardcore" as that refers to a specific genre of music that some may consider "not metal".
However, if you are referring to the more intense genres, such as Death Metal, Black Metal, etc. then thats all good.

I dont see why people assume that all the, ahem, "hardcore" metal is about screaming and growling. Not all the bands do that, we can still have bands that are metal and do not growl. For example, what of the classic metal bands and the NWOBHM and thrash bands? Black Sabbath and Metallica (albeit, not one of their best works..) are already in the game, that is metal. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Megadeth, Slayer etc etc. Then theres the people that say they cant make out the lyrics.......well, start with listening to bands that you can and get used to it, for example, Bolt Thrower are an excellent Death metal band which you can make out the lyrics quite clearly and they have some pretty standard rock style playing going on there that some of you might appreciate.

Oh, and as Nicko McBrain says, double bass is "un-drummerish".

I actually had a thread like this before, looks like it got deleted. But as Terranova was saying, drum sets have pedals that have double heads on them for double bass. You don't need 2 pedals to do double bass.

So the way the game does it, is as you see a big orange bar for when you hit the kick pedal, you would actually hear 2 bass kicks.

So imagine hitting the pedal 3 times, instead you would hear 6 bass kicks.

In rapid double bass, you would just be hitting the kick pedal 1/2 the time than needbe.

And at the same time this is realistic as well. When people think of double bass, they think 2 pedals, using 2 feet to do double bass. But on certain drumsets, as Terranova shown, there are ones that have only 1 pedal, with 2 heads to do it.

And as a hardcore punk listener, metal singers do not sing "hardcore style". If anything, hardcore singing you can understand much better :)

Hey guys sorry for the confusion with the hardcore reference. I meant just the really heavy metal styles and I was referring to newer metal that is more underground. I actually love the radio metal or classic metal.

Anyway, I understand now how it will work. I guess that is realistic then, but I guess I still would prefer a double kick pedal even if it were just for the fun factor. It would feel right to me even if the second hit didn't register, you know what I mean?
