i'm with some of the people on this bored when i say that i hate genres. the only way i split up "rock" is Metal, Alternative, Punk, and Classic Rock. it just gets confusing further down...

the way they dress is emo. but as they are one of the most popular bands out there right now i don't see why they would act emo.

I like My Chemical Romance but they definitely need to work on making a better live performance. Especially Gerard Way (vocals) who just sounds terrible live. ok look, im not at a "phase", i like what i like. i listen to EVERYTHING, and if i like it i praise it. if i dont then i dont.

i dont like majority of emo singers voices, so i dont listen to it. but i once did because i thought it was cool.
yes, ME! THE EMO HATER SUPREME METAL HEAD!!! was once a bit on the emo side.
but yeah i listened to it and i never really got into it, but to be honest, back then music wasnt that big of part in my life as it is now.
back then i listened to alot of stuff that i now hate (lil bow wow... nuff said.), but then i started hanging out with musicians, i started going to concerts, i started playing bass, and i read about "good" bands, and listened to them.
i drew a line, what i liked and what i didnt. and what i liked was fast, it was heavy and hard.
i actually own The Black Parade, ive tried listning to it multiple times.
its just not good. the music is just.... blah. to me its boring, it has no energy. its almost depressing.
so you see im not just saying that emo music sucks because its following is a bunch of whiney losers, or because the band members arnt afraid to cry in public, i hate them because they suck. its not biased or anything like that cuz ive been down that road and it sucks!
and i dont JUST like metal. i like some rap too, i like classical scores, i dig old school jam rock, hell i even like techno. but, yes metal is my faveorite genre, its the one that im most passionate about. and not just because its "edgy, or cool!" but because its ****ing empowering!
unlike emo music, or emotional hardcore punk, or w/e when i listen to metal it wakes me up, it puts me in a "**** you" mood. and you like metal bands too i know you do because youve said it before, so you know what im talking bout.
ok this has drawn out way longer than i expected but my point is this, ive listened to every "genre" and "sub-genre" there is in rock. ive been from limp bizket and linkin park to sum 41, and blink 182 to pillar and demon hunter (those are christian) and ive found my home in metal. so dont just assume that im a stupid teenager that found metal, liked it and never ventures into other waters, because ive been through it all baby. and its metal through and through.... sprinkled with other genres... like a big metal sunday with a lil rap for the chocolate sauce, and a touch of alternative for the sprinkles, and maybe a big ol' cherry made out of pure classic rock.

I describe emo as the fashion and behaviour of a bunch of annoying self-pitying teenagers, and Pop Punk with whiny lyrics, Emo Dress, and Hardcore/Post Hardcore influence. It sounds quite bad.

Men can show emotion, but the emotion showed by emos is horribly oversensitive. The state of self pity is horrible for your mind, it's been proven by science. It's not that bad if it's a transitional phase, but for emos it isn't. Most of them are looking to join a harmful movement to "fit in" while being "Non Conformist".

ok, no. emotion is fine. expressing emotion is ok in the right circumstances.
but being EMOTIONAL is weak, annoying, and only shows how unstable some one is.
if your mother died in a car crash then cry, mourn, thats all understandable. but dont mope and let it control your life.
strong people mourn their losses and let out their emotions but they dont let it control them. they dont let it get to the point that its OTHERS problems.
emo music is nothing but a sob story in audio form.
by all means, write a song bout your dead mother, write a song about your lost love, write a song that helps you cope. but do NOT crowd my air space and polute my ears with an entire album, image, and message of pure depression and sadness.
and dont you dare attack me saying that im insensitive to people who suffer from depression. depression is a disease that is caused by a chemical imbalance. but when you let your emotions drive you to the point of depression THEN i lose sensitivity to you.

Quite honestly, I don't mind My Chemical Romance. I prefer their old stuff, when they were faster, louder and less "majestic" and Gerard Way didn't sing while playing piano. But I love loads of different kinds of rock. Technical (Buckethead, Yngwie Malmsteen), Classic (Johnny Cash), Hard Rock (Guns n Roses) and, yeah, a little bit of grunge and emo.

Every person dedicated to the one genre can not understand why someone can like another genre. It just works that way. I can't believe Hilary Duff actually managed to score a singing career, but thats just me. And all of you if you're sane.

Personally i have a dislike for My Chemical Romance because the singer isn't that good, he could be but like most emo bands he is very winy theres no true variation in his voice. if he hits a high not its winy. But the guitarist is sick though I'll give them that. Also their songs have to depressing lyrics.
