I don't like how hard it is to press down the pedal compared to
a real drum pedal. Is there anywhere to get a replacement spring
that isn't as strong, but about half of it or something? Plus it's gotta
be the cause of everyone breaking their pedals while playing. Anyone
else thought about doing this also?

It's way more springy than it needs to be.... if I had a real kick pedal with that much spring to it, I'd immediately throw it in the trash and replace it with a DW pedal - cuz there's no way a real drummer would buy something that stiff. Haven't seen anything about people modifying it to be less springy, though.

I'd like to see someone try one thing, though... and that's to take a page out of the book from the guy that adapted a DrumKat controller so he could play Guitar Hero guitar parts on a drum controller... but take it one step farther and adapt an electronic drum controller so that you can play Rock Band drums on it. I may even try this myself if no one has attempted it by summer.

I could totally own on Expert in the game if I could use a double pedal and assign the same notes to multiple pads... like, for example, assigning the yellow, blue and green pads to both a tom trigger pad and a cymbal trigger pad at the same time... that would make songs that are extremely difficult for me now a piece of cake to master.

Yes you can replace the spring. In my pedal mod one of the things I did was replace the spring with a slighty stiffer one. You can see it in another post on this board. I know the heavier spring sounds stupid however I keep the pedal down until needed and only slightly raise the pedal when needed. I've notice my bass beats are quicker than with the stock spring and I am venturing into hard songs now. I used a spring from a 4-pack that I got at home depot and cut it to size. Any hardware store should sell springs that work. Just take the pedal spring with you to compare.

If you do one of the bass pedal mods where you are adding a steel plate to it the spring won't feel as 'springy' because of the extra weight. Plus as I am now playing Expert solo tour my pedal has 'broken in' some and the spring is not nearly as springy as new.
