I was playing today in some drum battles and after the song I noticed that my yellow drum pad had a pretty big hole in the middle of it.... Looks like I cracked the layer under the rubber  I'm not sure if this is common or not but I'm just wondering if this is considered "certain items that have any evidence of abuse beyond the normal usage" as said in the Rock Band equipment replacement site. Because I don't want to send my drums away for me just to be told that I what I did to my yellow pad is "abuse" and have to pay big money for it.

I would say it was abuse, but get a mods word on it.

I'm guessing you should be fine if you RMA it now. Don't try to repair it or anything. I'm pretty sure they realize they need to change how the yellow and blue pads are set up. I don't think they're going to yell at you. You could try PMing one of the EAx mods and asking them for a better answer.
The kid who broke the red and green pads clean off from the rest of the drums and cracked the base.. I think that qualifies as abuse.

That just happened to mine. I don't know that it's abuse. I'm getting a new set tomorrow via RMA, so I guess we'll see.

my yellow dented too just today...same story as everyone else...i was not even playing that hard so it def wasn't abuse, i'm an adult that knows how to take care of my equipment so if EA gives me a problem i'm not gonna be too happy at all.

I was told by a EA CSR that this was abuse to the drum set that is non-replaceable. So i'm so just going to buy a new set on Feb. 4th and hopefully the drums will be with higher quality drum-pads. I'm not too happy about them cracking so fast tho at all. They should have known that the drums were going to beaten to **** and needed to be built strong to withstand hours of practice and newbie drummers. I am no newbie at drums I might add.

My blue and green drums produce a loud buzzing noise when being drummed on, even gently, as opposed to a soft "thonk" coming from the red and yellow drums. I'm considering purchasing some new equipment when it's released, but at the moment I'm not too happy with the build quality and engineering of the current items - hopefully it'll be better.

Phuck that! I have played the drums 4-5 days a week since the game came out and my yellow and blue pads cracked last week. It damn sure wasnt from abuse, just bad design. I rma'd them last thursday and they should be here tues or wed. We'll see what happens but they better accept them and not try to charge me for them. They should last more than 30 days under normal use!

How can you abuse hardware that in theory is meant to withstand being hit with force over and over again?
WTF?

My yellow drum pad is also dented and isn't always responsive.

I have the same issue and I can't actually believe that they can say this is an abuse issue. It's ludicrous. If they won't correct the issue or is the drum kit offered on Feb. 4th isn't of better quality I don't see the point in continuing gameplay. Why should I invest money in EA and Harmonix if they can't take the time to invest in their customers. I've had alot of fun with the game but I sure won't be taken for a sucker and be replacing this piece of crap every month.

My brother's the drummer, and the same thing happened to our set, same drum pad. Sure as hell wasn't abuse. You play the drums at the speed you're supposed to, and that yellow pad's going to take a beating. We're supposed to have it replaced. We bought some felt pads, so that better prevent it from denting in the middle like that.
First the guitar, now the drums. Can't wait for my 360 to get the red ring of death again. Then I'm gonna' take the whole mass of plastic and metal, drop it into a wood chipper, then take the confetti that used to be gaming equipment and throw myself a party. I swear, I love my 360 and I love this game, but should I feel afraid to do anything with them because everything's made to break these days? Just once it'd be nice to buy something new and not have to replace it a few months later.

I am a quality engineer and understand statistics very clearly. I know the odds of the yellow and blue pads fracturing and it is clearly defective product. My yellow and blue pads fractured under normal play and then my bass pedal blew apart. It's obvious that the engineering tests were less than adequate for releasing this hardware. I had to submit RMA's for both, as they will not send the entire drum kit. If they attempt to charge me for both, it will exceed $300 and I will be irate. Let's just find out how EA responds!!

My yellow got dented after about 3 weeks. Minimal weight to it as well. My guitar was dead out of the box, wouldn't power up. Took 3 weeks to get a new one. I RMA'd my drums because of the dented yellow and I received the new set the other day. I am going to send the old one tomorrow. Typically I could see them saying abuse but since EVERYONE has a dented yellow pad, something is wrong. My new set seems to respond a lot better than the old, a very light tap is all it takes. However the yellow sounds hollow compared to the other notes. Maybe that is the reason for the denting.
Regardless, if they reject and attempt to charge me $125 for the drums, EA will have some words from me and I am sure a lot of people that have this same problem. Today I was just testing the new pads out and my bass pedal snapped below the spring. Gotta send in for an RMA on that now too. Only thing that I haven't RMA'd yet is the microphone. Inferior product testing is definetely the problem here.

I've just RMA'd a set for a cracked yellow pad, the CSR told me it's a design flaw and that it was warrantied. Time will tell, they got my old set back friday, I did express replacement so I'll know if they charge me or not.

Well here is hoping I have the same luck. Yellow pad dented and looks like the blue pad is cracked. we have played the game every day since we got it for the 360 Late Jan.
Since this happened Monday nite (submitted an RMA smae nite) Then did a lot ot searching and it seems a lot of people had the same problem/ my Wife (who is the drummer) founda video on YouTube with it happening as the guy played.. I looked at the video and its in the same exact spot as ours. his goes away from time to time though.

I was playing as hard as i have been playing for 2 months and during the song i looked down at my pads and there was a dent in my yellow pad! it still registers but it really screws me up when im playing, so I was wondering if i sent in an RMA would they be mad at me for sending in a drum set that still works but has a dent?
ALso: if i choose express is it safe to keep playing on the yellow pad while i wait for the new one or could i snap something.
Edit#2: it somehow magically just popped back into place, but i can feel a significant bounce decrease, now what.

Man that sucks. I bought gum rubber pads to alleviate the newbie stress on my drums when non-gamers come over and think they can beat the crap out of it like a real set of drums. There is nothing wrong with what they are doing, it's just that I realize that the build quality is crap and you have to treat it like a frickin' baby. Oh and I bought the kick petal metal thingee as well. I should NOT have to do that.

I'm a jerk, I'd say it's abuse. Why? Because the Best Buy store has had kids wailing on the set since the promotional demo display was up. They're still using the same drums today and I got 99% on expert Maps. Standing up with the bass pedal sucks btw.

If you are worried about whether or not the damage to your peripheral has gone beyond 'standard use' you can call the support number in the back of your manual. The customer service rep can then make a descision on whether your item is still in warranty and can create an RMA for you.
Cheers,

Ive had gum rubber + felt on my pads since the first week of having them (januaryish).
Checked them today since the red felt pad + rubber was coming off. What do i find? Cracked red pad like a Y. I proceed to check the other pads.. yellow cracked in half, blue has a minor crack starting, green has a very minor crack.
I have a feeling that this may be one of the older models as it was the last set they had at a very shady looking walmart. Ive had to replace my guitar once for faulty whammy bar. First set of sticks were just crap and broke due to flaws in the wood. Now, the drum pads are cracked... i suppose at least the pedal still works fine.
The funny thing is.. my sister is the one who plays the game the most. :p

I dont think its abuse, the heads are very thin and i would be willing to bet the kids in best buy arent going to be strong enough to crack a head but with teens or adults playing through whole sets and levels the heads crack under pressure.
mine are cracked as well ive tried various methods of repairs but nothing is holding up to the stress of repeated blows during a set this time i tried to glue a cd to the back as a patch we will see how it holds up.
it seems that the yellow is first to go and then the red with green and blue following close behind.

My drumset is the EL model. I guess its the first model that was shipped and I bought it at a shady wal-mart at the end of February. Should I expect this model to be faulty in the soon future? One of my drumsticks snapped in half already after only 2 days of use.. SO should i expect the yellow denting soon?
My sister's the drummer. A noob but already in Hard level after 2 days of whacking.

Add me to this list. Decided to play last night (hadn't played in a while) and I could tell right away that there was something wrong with the yellow pad. After I finished the song, I pushed in the middle and felt it give...I think it's cracked pretty bad. I tried calling the support # and the automated system said the best thing to do was go to the website for replacement. Did that, and where it asked what the problem was, I just told it that the pads didn't work, and answered No to every possible solution, then did the RMA express delivery. I'm not at all worried about them saying it was abuse. I play it normally and my wife was the last to play it and she hits them really soft. To make a peripheral that is supposed to take a beating out of cheap plastic and having this many instances of breaking is IMO, why they they have almost a no questions asked return policy (I was surprised they didn't ask for date of purchase...I even had my receipt ready).
And to rant, I also agree that it's REALLY sad what this "Next Generation" gaming experience has come to. Seems like faulty products. Between the Xbox dying and the bad rock band peripherals, I am surprised my racing wheel still works. Oh wait, some of those decided to emit smoke. Maybe someone should send a message: "HEY GUYS...SELLING PRODUCTION TO THE CHEAPEST BIDDER ONLY COSTS YOU MORE IN THE END." But wait...that would make sense.
Rant done.

I just got my drums replaced by ea because i dented the red and yellow pads and get a buzzing noise when i hit the blue. This being my second pair i am dissapointed though, if you do express shipping and give them you credit card number they send a new one to you in like 2 days
