Davey never said if hes **** or not... but I have a STRONG feeling that he is between the way he makes himself look , and the fact that in one of his songs he basically flat out says hes homosexual (Why don't they just let us use the easy word for that? lol)

i like afi there were my favourite band in high school and i still listen to them now

and all people who say that afi are emo are correct , because all music is emo , ask yourself how you feel when you listen to your music , does your music make you feel angry or pi**ed or good and all fluffy and cuddly inside (happy) well it is all to do with emotion , all music has it , including metal which makes you mostly pi**ed at one another and the world

ok it isn't all to do with emotion , i stepped way ahead on that, but alot of it is to do with energy,emotion and a reason to the music and all types of music has that energy, emotion and reason even the types of music we disgree with and in some cases hate has it or else no one would be making music because it wouldn't be made for a reason or purpose , and would just be noise in your ears

I remember when I was a mod on Slipknot's message board...and because Slipknot stopped saying "**** you, you ****ing people, with your ****, and ****, ****, ****, ****" and wrote real lyrics on their latest cd, they were emo and I was like...um...you know emo's a real genre and isn't about the lyrics right...and they were like "NO!!! SlipKnotzzz IZ TOTALL EMOZZZZZZ!!!"

Yeah, but the thing is that 'whiny' is a characteristic of the genre. Obviously a very general one, but that's how people view it. It's also been forming itself for the past decade or so into the genre emo rock.

There are a hell of a lot of other characteristics that define blues as blues, and johnny cash as country. They may whine, but the other recurring characteristics are what name the genres.

Otherwise you could say johnny cash is rap because he shot a man in reno just to watch him die. You can't, because there are other characteristics to rap that johnny cash lacks and vice versa.

Emo is EXTRA whiny though. Not only that, but the blues is different because people whined for a reason. EMos whine because they grew up in the suburbs. The blues artists, and Johnny Cashes voices also aren't whiny.

I voted. No, I hate AFI, and yes, we'll disagree, but I consider them pretty much emo. I remember watching a video of them in like 2004 or something, and since I have closed caption in my TV turned on all the time, I could read the lyrics. Yeah, to me, they are emo.
