If it even exists, is it only going to be for PS2, or will be be available for the 360 (as either a standalone disk or DLC)?

It was just a rumour.

It was just a rumour.

You need to get your video game news from a better source.

Announcement here:

http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27100

Activision has a whole plethora of "Guitar Hero" themed products coming out and I could tell you all about them, but that would spoil the surprise.

thanks :D

too bad harmonix isnt doing it

activision/neversoft is going to ruin the once great series (just like they did with tony hawk) but as long as they keep the gameplay the same, and spend all their money on good songs, it will be good

they need guitar hero poopiedeloopie edition (zepelin, black sabbath, deep purple, hendrix, and some other bands, and thats the whole game =D ), or underground edition (where all the songs are like the bonus tracks on previous games, not well known songs)

It's official now. It's not a rumor, GH: 80's is coming this summer. hmx announced it.

I didn't think hmx was working on any future GH releases after xbox.

no offense to harmonix, but this is going to suck, because there wasnt a lot of good music in the 80s, unless they get some death/speed metal or some of the awesome punk music

(please guns n roses tho)

BlingShyne2
05-12-2007, 02:50 AM
Uh, YEAH punk, but there is no way that any GOOD punk music would get into the game, because all the great **** like Black Flag and Minor Threat and Bad Brains are all pretty much:

"Hey I need a guitarist, do you know how to play guitar?"

"No"

"Well here, practice these 3 chords"

"Okay got it"

"Alright sweet, now just play those as fast, loud, and sloppy as possible"

Unless you get some Dead Kennedy's, Chemical Warfare or probably California uber alles would be wicked. Too Drunk to **** would be perfect, but come on, my grandma plays guitar hero.

Bow Wow Wow is a band... And they've been around on and off since 80. Their cover of that particular 1960s song which Aaron Carter also covered some twenty years later, is the song which appears in this game and is very much from the 80s: 1982 to be exact.

I am somewhat surprised that no one called him on the fact that he said the transfer to Neversoft ruined Tony Hawk. Because, ya know, Tony Hawk has been made by Neversoft since the beginning.

But other companies improved on what Neversoft did with ports that they released. Edge of Reality did the N64 port of THPS, Treyarch got Dreamcast, Natsume did GBC, etc. Really, the Treyarch versions were probably the best, but Neversoft still made them.

benjamin

The 64 versions were inferior and the slight additions of Treyarch hardly outweigh the entire design that Neversoft created,

What are you smoking? You're seriously referring the the GBC games as an improvement?

C'mon. They may be driving the series into the ground, but there's no denying that the reason it was so good in the first place was because of Neversoft.

I heard that the new Tony Hawk THP8 is quite good, on the 360 at least.

Activision's press release[8] revealed 7 of the 30 songs in the game:

* "I Wanna Rock" - Twisted Sister (Master Track)
* "I Ran (So Far Away)" - A Flock of Seagulls (Master Track)
* "Round and Round" - Ratt
* "I Want Candy" - Bow Wow Wow
* "Metal Health" - Quiet Riot
* "Holy Diver" - Dio
* "Heat of the Moment" - Asia

HOLLLYY DIVEERRR! I can't wait for this to come out.

Tony Hawk stopped improving after Tony Hawk 2.

I made parks so much that I forgot there was a skating part to the game.

I made parks so much that I forgot there was a skating part to the game.

I consider Tony Hawk 4 to be the apex of the series, the untimed levels just were a huge leap, even though Aggressive Inline did it first and better.

Plus Aggressive Inline had mucho ska and southern California music, and I love Reel Big Fish and Sublime.

*steers thread away from a skater game back to GH: Rocks the 80's

To Sean or another member of HMX,
I was surprised to see your name on this release because I assumed Neversoft was doing all development after the xbox port.
With this release, is it safe to say any addons or DLC for GH2 on any platform will be coming out of your company? Up until GH3 is released?

your right, but i was aiming to Dead Kennedys, they are my favorite 80s band

but you have a wonderful point, but there are SOME punk songs that are good with some ok guitaring and a solo

im not really excited about this game any more, half the songs announced, i despise them all

Calm down. Your wording was very ambigious and after rereading it I feel that I interpreted it in a completely logical manner.

http://www.gameinformer.com has a preview of this; they weren't too impressed.

benjamin

What is there to be impressed by? Once the song list is out that is all there is to decide upon.

I personally will take any new songs.

Brock_Landers

Had a read of the preview, and while it of course doesn't have the whole track list, there was a note that the covers in this range from adequate to terrible (may not be the exact wording, but close). Hard to believe that they'd fall off that much, but I guess it is possible--y'know, if they were just rushing this one out due to a contractual obligation or something.

Of course that's not saying it is the case.

But yeah, I think gameinformer were more bummed that there wasn't more in the store to buy actually

Rainer7
05-27-2007, 11:43 AM
I'd be bummed too if I spent $50 on 30 tracks and poor covers.

BlingShyne2

OKAY. OKAY.

I'M GETTING DISSAPOINTED BY THE SET LIST SO FAR.

I EITHER WANT "TIME FOR DEATH" OR "BLACK AND HUGE" BY GWAR OR I WONT BUY IT.

what are you ****tin me? of course i'll buy it.
