Is anyone else just going to boycott buying any DLC until Rock Band world tour is available for online users? I know I am, and there are songs I want, I just don't see a reason unless I can play the world tour until I can play those tunes with my friends/family online.

well, first it takes hours and hours and hours to code it, so not supporting them makes no sense.

Yeah guys! We won't pay for the additional tracks Harmonix gives us on a weekly, constant basis! That'll get them off their asses and crackin' on an online BWT mode, for sure. Oh, we'll show them... let's boycott to the extreme!

I remember one of the HMX staff saying that they didn't want to tackle online BWT for Rock Band 1 since they wanted to make sure they did it right. I'd say it probably won't happen until Rock Band 2. It's too big of an undertaking to make it as a patch for RB1...

Should we, or should we not follow the advice of the galactically STUPID!?
See what I did there. Used a quote from one stupid person to insult another...pretty clever huh?
Good luck on your crusade, doofus!

Wow, this might be the LEAST amount of support for a thread ever; looks like a lonely boycott.
Count me in for DLC every week as long as it is a band I enjoy.

Ugh, it's hard enough to get a band together with friends I know in real life; can you imagine how hard it would be to co-ordinate with strangers in another state? Online Band World Tour sounds better than it would actually be, IMO.

Hey, apparently it wouldn't be as difficult as organizing a good boycott.

Sorry to sound like an ass, but this is sort of a greedy post. I understand how it would feel to not be able to play BWT, my bro absolutely refuses to play it with me. But why complain? This is an amazing game, my favorite game of all time, and not only are they giving us weekly DLC, they are giving us well-charted (unlike GH3's; the Mastodon chart is ******ed and the LP one does way more than the song actually does and just isn't fun, regardless of it being one of my favorite songs ever) and actually really good stuff too.
Personally, I hope that HMX NEVER incorporates an online BWT simply because that would take some of the realism out of the game.
Remember kids, a long time ago, in a country not so much unlike this one, friends got together and formed bands. These friends lived close to each other and they PRACTICED their asses off.
I say tough luck at the moment to those people who can't get ahead on BWT because their friends suck at higher levels. And guess what kids? I'M INCLUDED IN THAT GROUP. But I'm still having fun watching my friends try their best and PRACTICING so that we might one day be able to get more fans by moving on to a higher level.
Start a band...with your friends! Not someone from Washington + New York + Texas + Florida.
Like my title says...suck it up already!

oh my god. are you freakin'serious?
first off, they SAID IN ADVANCE, that this at the very least wouldn't be available at launch. so why in the hell would you GO BUY THE GAME AND THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT IT?
it astounds me. also, "boycotting dlc" is gonna do you no good.
ill be enjoying the game while you whine, thanks. =P

I play online Quickplay with three or four people all the time, and it's plenty of fun for me.
If it ever gets old, then I'll worry about whether they've introduced online BWT.

lol Apples.
Anyway, **** Online BWT, i want a Single Player World Tour! Now THAT would increase how much i can get out of the game ten fold and i would think should be incredibly easy to implement. Just copy and paste what they have and simply remove that one line of code that doesnt let you proceed cause you only have one person. Now THAT would be great.

While I enjoy 100s of songs that I can play with my family and friends...You are going to be bitter and not play the game how it is.
I really don't think we will see an online band world tour patch anytime soon if at all. Maybe in Rock Band 2. Until them I'm making the best of the amazing game.

No more than I'll be boycotting it until we get a sax controller, which is another feature that I want but which nobody ever promised us...

Hmm, boycott DLC...........no, I think not. I love the amount of DLC that is already available for the game and the fact that there is more coming.
I do look forward to the day I can play BWT with my family who are quite distant from me. But until then, band quickplay will do fine. And we will enjoy the DLC all the same.
Enjoy you boycott, may it serve you well as you deprive yourself of some quality content for no reason.

While I appreciate the vigor of your enthusiasm, this is like trying to turn the pope Catholic. Online BWT is something the devs want to make already.

i clicked on this thread to see if this was a mock post or if people were actually crazy enough to boycott dlc. turns out the OP was serious, but for the most part everyone else is in check. seriously, enjoy the game as is. youre missing out on a lot of great stuff.
no online band world tour is not the end of the world. the game is more enjoyable with friends in the same room, not in cyberspace, anyway.

I won't be boycotting DLC or anything, but, for me (much like everyone else) the lack of Online BWT is one of my major disappointments with this game. In the long run, I probably will lose interest in the game sooner than I would with Online BWT. My friends and I are all married with kids, so getting together to play through BWT in person is a very difficult thing logistically and Quickplay over Live doesn't have the longterm appeal of BWT.
From the quotes I have read, it sounds the like the Devs are trying to do way too much with BWT in the short term. It would be fine with me and my friends if the band was just hosted on a local console (just like an offline BWT) and my friends just joined and watched my go through the BWT options (just like Quickplay) and just participated when we got to the songs. Even if my friends were just "fill-in" players for the band without stat tracking that would be fine.
What the devs have mentioned in regards to Online BWT sounds great, but, I wish we at least had a stopgap version of Online BWT to tide us over Rock Band 2 or whenever they can actually pull off their Uber Online BWT.

And yet this post wasn't edited. So suspiscious...
Just to add to the overwhelming non support of the OP, I'm going to go the extra step and point out that the DLC you're boycotting isn't really implemented in BWT anyway. The only way to play DLC is using the make a setlist option, which is pretty much just Quickplay. Not a very convincing arguement you've made.

Not that I agree with the utter moron who started this thread...
but in BWT I get DLC about 85% of the time I do a random setlist. This could be because I have all the DLC so I pretty much have 2/3rds as much DLC as I do original game tracks.
Either way, cutting off your nose to spite your face is a moronic thing to do.
Every thread the OP is in, he ends up being a tool.
The excessive coloring, bold, pitch height, and overall "hey look at me! I forgot to take my ritalin! Woo! look at me" tone of his posts completely makes him a douche-nozzle.

You keep boycotting the DLC all you want. HMX will gladly get my hard earned money.
Just a suggestion though, you may want to venture out into the real world and make some friends so you can play BWT yah cockmonkey.
