I have been playing Rock Band for a bit over a week now and I have to say I LOVE IT. This was my first venture into the music genre of gaming and I couldn't be more happy with my purchase. These forums are great as well.

One of the things that I have enjoyed most about Rock Band is hearing how many people are enjoying playing in a band with members of their family. All over these boards you hear about husbands and wives playing together, parents playing with their children and siblings playing together. I'm a nerdy family oriented person but that just warms my heart. There are few games out there now that allow the family to get together to play and have fun. Far too often the content isn't appropriate for certain age groups so children have to be left out. Rock Band spans all the ages and allows for all skill levels to jump in and have a lot of fun. I bought the game thinking that I would just do all the stuff on solo and then try some band stuff over live. Well as soon as I got the bundle home my fiance jumped on the drums and her sister picked up the mic and the rest is history. I have to say this the most fun multiplayer experience I have had on my 360 (and I really love COD4, Team Fortress 2, Halo 3, and R6V). Well Done Hamonix. You got so many things right with this game.

Yeah, my wife could never get into Guitar Hero, she is just not good at playing the plastic guitar. :) But she can sing, so she loves the singing part. Some of the songs are a bit heavy for her but she still has fun. And I play the guitar (and am thinking of picking up a set of drums when they're sold separately). RB is definitely more fun as a social game, and GH is still there when I want to play solo.

I'm going to train my 1-year-old as soon as she's old enough. Other than that, sometimes the wife plays drums, and is actually pretty dang good at it for a first-timer. I'm looking forward to playing this thing for years to come with family and friends. My sis-in-law likes to do bass.

I agree. My 15 yr old is an ace on guitar (lot's of GH), my 8 yr old likes singing (as long as he likes it, right?), and so far I've become the drummer. I haven't seen my 19 yr old this much since he graduated, and he usually takes bass or trades off with me on drums (though I can kick his butt on drums at this point). This is the first thing that has me doing things together with all the kids (except the 6 yr old who is into "Monster Jam" on the other xbox, lol) in a long time, since the older ones don't generally hang with dad anymore, or do much with the younger ones. And oddly, they haven't been bringing their friends to play, as they enjoy the "family" band. Being 47 with 4 boys, it's a blast. Mom doesn't get into it much, except she'll sing after a beer or two once in a while:) but she doesn't complain about the noise since it IS a family function now.
This is what I was hoping the game would do, so thanks for a great job. Much better than just watching them all veg out individually on their own games.

I agree with you completely. I am 29, my wife is 30, and we have 10 year old twins, a 6 year old, and a 3 year old. We play this game on the weekends together. We basically switch around on instruments while my two youngest daughters sing with us. It is a great family bonding experience. We used to do our own thing for the most part on the weekends, but now we spend at least 6 hours a day together on the weekends playing this game. The only problem is now I have to find my own time for my gaming needs. I have like 3 brand new games I haven't even played since because we are always playing Rock Band.
