can we play songs with bass/rythm guitars , or will it be bass only

Good question, I think it's kinda up in the air right now. The songs that they've demo'd so far all seem to be bass.
But as you probably know, you could play rhythm in GH, so I would imagine on songs that have repetitive, or boring bass lines, they would let you play rhythm.
But we'll probably just have to wait and see. Unless someone knows otherwise?

I'm fairly postitive that like in guitar hero, there will be certain songs where rhythm guitar is substituted for bass. There was a leaked video, that has since been removed of Mississippi Queen, and I think that had rhythm guitar in it.

I didn't even think to look for it in the videos. No one pays attention to the bass player anyway.

Who the hell knows? For all we know, they could've felt like doing the extra effort to make both rhythm guitar and bass tracks for every song and letting you choose either/or (and I seriously ****in' hope that's what they did)

Yes, Every song does have rhythm guitar. Just that some don't have a rhythm AND lead. Lead plays the rhythm when they aren't wanking off. AND if you pay close attention to studio recordings.. Sabbath and Pantera and bands that don't have two guitarist often record the rythym under their leads anyway.

I REALLY hope they have Rhythm guitar on some songs. For me personally, I find the rhythm guitar parts in GH extremely fun (way more than bass). Rhythm on Girlfriend, Jessica, and Freebird can be just as challenging as lead!
Whenever I play with my friend I make him play bass unless a rhythm part is selectable.:p

LOL Revolver is at it again - this is the debate/flaming I had with him (nope, thats offensive to men calling Revolver that, so Revolver can be a he/she for now). There... will.. be... rhythm... guitar... for... some... songs... END OF! Btw you said something about Lead plays rhythm... I dont think so pal. Rhythm guitar is the continuing repeat, usually of the same riff, but on a proper guitar not a bass one.

lead plays a rhythm when they're not soloing. theres no such thing as a rhythm guitar, it is a regular guitar playing either lead or rhythm. again, you cannot find me a single announcement(minus a misquote of GI) of rhythm guitar being in the game. until then, there is no rhythm outside of your mind.

No, not every song has a 2nd (usually called rhythm) guitar part. As far as I know, Rush never used a second guitar. Yes, lead guitar does usually play a rhythm part most of the time in a one-guitar band, but I think the question is: Will there be both 1st and 2nd guitar parts?

Except for the fact that I saw them play Mississipi Queen and it was rhythm. Also if you listen to that song, it has no bass in it, so thats as good as an announcement as I need.

two things:
Mississippi Queen does have bass.
The mississippi queen video was taken off because it was an early build(or some other reason along those lines) so what you see in that isn't 100%

ok 1) stop trying to do these "its not 100%" and like the comparison with Guitar Hero which, remember, the guitar bit will be based on, thus it will have rhythm.
2) couldnt find bass tabs for mississipi queen (google search). Found tabs for rhythm and lead though... and here's another example. Take "Go With the Flow" QOTSA on Rock Band too. Here's the rhythm tab:

found a youtube video of the song with a bass guitarist playing, and found bass tabs through www.powertabs.net(thats the source i mainly use, its the first one i checked)

i know there's nothing special about the bass part, but the second guitar only plays that same thing the whole entire song. the bass part is actually more exciting than that.

how do we know the sky is blue... what if our eyes are just mistaken and its really green. The chance of this is next to nothing, but because its not 100%, am I not right in saying the sky is blue! you have nothing to back up your claim, because you are saying someting will definitely be in the game when harmonix has never said that it will as of yet. in a court of law, you would lose. i do agree that rhythm guitar is a likely possibility, but i say the same for a led zeppelin song. i have no idea whether a led zeppelin song will be in the game, but as they are one of the most famous rock bands of all time it is likely. but still, they might not be in the game because so far, harmonix has not announced one of their songs.

Sorry man but thats a very bad analogy. Comparing the build of a game, which is dynamic, to the colour of the sky, which is static, does not work.

They MAY have rhythm. Just because bass is boring doesn't mean they always have rhythm. Plus it's getting a 6x multiplier mostly because it is one of the more boring parts in the game.
As for revolver... Lead does not always play rhythm between solos. Sometimes there are two completely different guitar tracks, two recordings played on each other. In that case TECHNICALLY it is the lead guitarist playing it, but he plays the SOLO track. The backing track is considered rhythm.

but there is such thing as a rhythm guitar riff and some bands have more than one guitar
and if there is a rhythm guitar riff in the song it should be made playable and so should the bass no matter what
so you get to pick which one you want to play

and also
i would like to point out that lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, and drums can ALL be played if there is a song without words. all you would need is another guitar
and there are plenty of awesome songs without words
thats just a suggestion though
