Is it possible to return JUST the pads (has anyone done this?), or would they want the whole thing?
Currently, my pads are faulty (particularly the red-shows in "Ballroom Blitz" on Hard, and I've done EVERYTHING-calibrating, etc. and it'll still miss notes) and I'll do the whole warranty replacement thing, my only concern is that I've modified the pedal by inserting the reinforcement and I currently love the fact that its working perfectly and has yet to snap.
Thx.

Just send back the pedal that comes with the replacement kit.

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that if you RMA your drums they don't want the pedal...if you send the pedal with the drums you will not get another in return.
The drums and the pedal are being handled as two different components as far as RMAs are concerned.

if you are doing an express replacement, you could just send the "new" pedal back to them with the "old" pads.

To answer your question, YES. There is a separate RMA that you can return just the pads (I have done this). The Drum Pedal is a separate (RMA). They don't want you returning the pads and the pedal together.

Looks like you got your answer, but I too can confirm that the pedal and pads are not shipped together. If your pads go bad, you have to ship the pads and the drum stand but NOT the pedal. Likewise, when you get the replacement, they will ship you a new set of pads and the stand but no pedal.
However, before your RMA your pads. Are you saying your red pad stopped working altogether or that it just doesn't register the fast rolls? If the latter, you might want to try what I did: take the top of the pad off and slightly loosen the two screws on the center bracket. I did that and now my red pad is perfect.

I can also confirm this. When I RMA my drums, via express delivery, the note that came with my replacement said NOT to include the pedal. So if you have modified your pedal you have no need to worry unless your pedal stops working.
