How many of you had to tape up your red pad (or any of them) in order to complete some drum rolls on certain songs??? Cuz i think i might have to cuz i really cant get passed Run To The Hills on hard, even though i feel like im hitting most of the notes........enough to survive.
And if you didn't know............people tape up their pad to increase the sensitivity to it
And if you have.......... Does it really work???

No, I haven't had to tape any of my pads but yes it does work. It will make it better, but WILL NOT FIX IT COMPLETELY. What it does is just pushes the pad down closer to the little sensor so it registers more of your hits. As its been shown from a post a while back the problem with it is bad wiring. When they were soldering the wires they melted some of the plastic and only some of the current goes through.

better yet do the remo practice pad mod I just did, I was having terrible trouble with rolls esp run to the hills and now with the added bounce it makes it much easier.

I had to tape down my red and green heads. Although, R0ck3r, I can't argue the validity of your argument, that's the first I've heard of a wiring problem, but my heads do work perfect now. I don't really mind the tape....I think it makes it look a little less like a Fisher Price toy.

Yes, taping does fix the problem, for the most part anyways by increasing the sensitivity.

I haven't taped them down yet. I will however be doing some mods, which will include one of the senser mods, to improve my performance.

This is wrong on a lot of fronts. I'm not going to go into detail on it, but you're horribly wrong.
As for tapeing, RttH and a bunch of other factors; it depends on your play style, the model of drums you have (QM or EL), and what state of damage they're currently in.
Chances are, if the tapeing is going to improve it to a point where you'll suddenly pass, either you weren't playing it that well to begin with, or the pad is seriously damaged beyond repair and you should likely put in an RMA request.
Good luck on RttH. Practicing it will really will help improve your drumming a lot.

The pads worked fine for 'Medium', but once I made it to the upper tiers of 'Hard' I realized that they wouldn't registers a fast roll at all!
I play heel down only and my pedal gave out too. (At the hinge)
