Too soon. Seriously, this is goddamn ridiculous.

Yes it is ridiculous that we do not a RB3 already. We should be arguing about new features for RB4.

Something is coming. HMX is hiring for an "unannounced project".

The position is for a "senior character artist." Just what we need, more band specific games. :-P

Well of course *something* is coming. What exactly do you think all of the developers at Harmonix have been doing since TB:RB was finished? Sitting around twiddling their thumbs? :)

I thought they were all on vacation spending their bonus money on new glass devices that you smoke through.

I'm pretty stoked about the possibility of RB3 hopefully hitting around summer.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. They have to realize that RB3 is where the money is. Their margins on Beatles is so much smaller, I'm sure it's hurting this years financial numbers.

Link please?

I find it hard to believe that a game that features the music of only one band (even though the licencing fees would be higher for The Beatles), would cost that much more than something like RB2. But I'd love to be proven wrong.

Very wrong. The Beatles deal was very different from any other band. The band is getting a much deeper cut of the revenue.

And $10 million is guaranteed to Apple Records, regardless of sales - which is likely why its hitting profit bad this quarter for the Rock Band franchise, but once they get past that gap, should be smooth sailing.

We can do a guesstimate here. A disk is $60. Store markup is what, about a third. So that leaves $40. (They've said that they make no money off of hardware, so that's a push.) Let's take off another $10 for manufacturing and shipping, leaving $30 profit. That means that HMX has to move over 300,000 units just to pay the initial license fee.

Only after that can they start paying for all the salaries, capital expenses (equipment), leasing (property), bonuses and benefits, advertising (big chuck), etc. that went into making the game. Any actual profit for the shareholders is a long way away. Something is telling me big loss when all is said and done.
