View Full Version : Harmonix, Where's The Hardcore!?!?!?!?

I'm sure there have been many threads like this before me, but what the hell, I'm new.

There needs to be some DLC from more hardcore/metal bands. Not Numetal like korn, linkin park, disturbed or anything similar. I'm talking about some heavy stuff with breakdowns and screaming.

Like songs that were in guitar hero 2 such as:

Lamb of God--"laid to rest"
All That Remains--"six"
Shadows Fall--"the light that blinds"

other bands to consider:

Acacia strain
august burns red
between the buried and me
bleeding through
children of bodom
dead to fall
emmure
job for a cowboy
the red chord
suicide silence
throwdown

and many many others

**On a side note: The metallica pack is a definite step in the right direction. Those songs are badass. If the rumor is true about a full metallica album being released I hope its one of the albums from the 80's

kill em all 1983
ride the lightning 1984
master of puppets 1986
...and justice for all 1988

hopefully no 90's metallica albums because they sucked.

Thanks for reading

what do you guys think?

I agree i think RB's soundtrack seems a bit girly in comparison to the guitar hero series song selection we had dethklok on guitar hero 2 reigning blood on guitar hero 3 apart from the ones that you mentioned, please make our hardcore dreams come true:D

I think the best part would be the vocals if they put in some heavier songs. Trying to match high screams and low guttural growls. I really think that those heavier songs would be a real hit.

I know people that hate hard music but really really enjoyed slayer in GH III

Harmonix, Where's The Hardcore!?!?!?!?

In the trash

YES! ANYTHING remotely hard-rock would be good (way better then this Blink 182 and Monkees DLC)

All that Remains
Lamb of God
Killswitch Engage
Pantera
System of a Down
Shadows Fall (MOST of their songs I like)

And I know RB would never have it, but:
Slayer
Slipknot

I totally vote for anything hardcore
While i really like six, i'd actually rather see We Stand by All That Remains (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aubiqATgNaQ)

Killswitch Engage - Still Beats Your Name (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0a6tktJzLcE)
As I Lay Dying - The Darkest Nights (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKXvtXQCU9U)
It Dies Today - Marigold (could only find low quality life vids)
At All Cost - Death To Distraction (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bIRKlavIWY)
Bullet For My Valentine - Hand of Blood (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYVJBntE-DM)
Demon Hunter - Not Ready To Die (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7O1b5VwA-I)
Media Lab - My Eyes Are Bleeding (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh9uH1jeN6U)

The guy from Lamb of God would be extremely hard to match vocally, but I'm sure I'd have a good time trying! Same could be said of Cannibal Corpse or Napalm Death, but I highly doubt you'd ever see them in a video game!

Biohazard would be cool to see, but again, prob very unlikely

They all swear way to much. Think about it GH3 all you really have to focus on is the Guitar and they can blur them out, but in RB you can sing these words too. I personally don't care but thats probably why.

pulseMOD

they don't swear too much. plus some of the songs on RB are edited anyways so it wouldn't be a big deal. i think the main reason is because the vocals are mostly screaming and they'd want to see a big enough demand for it first?

swordinstone
01-14-2008, 09:27 PM
true, but for songs that have 1 or 2, its not a big deal, they leave a blank spot where it was and you can insert it if you like :D works for me

pulseMOD
01-14-2008, 09:30 PM
yeah actually in the songs i listed there's maybe 1 swear word at most

Yeah dude, that'd be sick as hell. In the process though, they should add more stuff to the drum set to make it more hardcore, like a double bass!! :D But yeah some hardcore and death metal bands that should definitely be in Rock Band are:

August Burns Red
Darkest Hour
Unearth
Killswitch Engage
Still Remains (their old stuff)
Between The Buried And Me
The Breathing Process
As Blood Runs Black
Belay My Last
Winds Of Plague

I don't know about "hardcore," that's kind of a vague genre, most bands labeled "hardcore" are just a bunch of depressed losers (MCR, Atreyu, trivium) who can't stop screeching and shrieking (yeah, NOT screaming) about their g/f's, pathetic. Metalcore sucks too, I don't know how ****nut (aka slipknot) got in gh3, and I don't think 9 FREAKIN PEOPLE can all play RB at once so that's out of the question... I mean, they have a ****ing dj in a supposed "metal" band... yuck. Could you imagine plugging some enormous spin table thing into your ps3 for some *** dj?!?!?! Okay, seriously though I would also like to see some Slayer:
Raining Blood
Angel of Death (about the Holocaust though so probably not)
South of Heaven (cursing though so probably not)
Silent Scream
War Ensemble
Hell Awaits
All great songs that could be in this game, but the lyrics are kind of horrible, even I don't want to shout about overthrowing Heaven (Raining Blood), but the tunes kick ass. I would really want to see this in RB though, my favorite solos on both the guitar AND drums ever:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i38m-xGX7io
Again, too bad the lyrics are cruel, but what the hell are you going to do, sing about ponies with awesome riffs, solos, and beats like those?! Plus it would be the most challenging song by far on all guitar, drums, and vocals... watch and request.

Agreed there must be more Hardcore. Preferably from System of a Down first. :p

umm...you guys are extremely confused. MCR is not hardcore metal, those guys are f***ing emo losers. Trivium is more thrash metal, and I count Atreyu under the pansy ass emo/screamo category. And Slipknot is not hardcore metal, they're pretty much rap metal (or nu metal or w/e). How can you even put rap and metal in the same sentence unless you are contrasting the two? I don't understand that, but w/e...the media is ******ed nowadays. I agree with you on the whole 9 people in the band and one of them being a dj thing, I'm not a slipknot fan either. And System of a Down isn't hardcore metal, dude.

If you are referring to the type of metal where the singer talks/sings like he has been possessed by a demon... well the Rock Band microphone does not detect that you are singing when you sing like that; Believe me, I have tried:D

Have you tried messing with the mic sensitivity or holding the microphone closer to your face?

That loser Corey Taylor (slipknot) can't even do anything BUT shriek, he can't even play an instrument, and he even admitted that tupac was an influence on his music, and tupac is rap so yeah, slipknot is part rap. I wish the dumbass fans would just admit they like ****ty music. The only thing worse than rap/rock is Christian rap/rock. Yeah I'm a Christian, but still, God just doesn't belong in metal or rock. Especially not rap/rock, that's just insulting and therefore antichristian even if the lyrics are straight from the Bible... lol.

I'm personally not a fan of the Hardcore heavy metal, i prefer the more acoustics sound or shall i say fewer power chords, even so i admit that the songs mentioned were indeed incredibly fun to play on GH2. Never did manage to beat Six on expert but had a hell of a time trying. As far as the singing goes....yikes. wouldn't look forward to that.

We Need Killswitch Engage

Yea some metal would be awesome. Double bass pedals could just be cut so the drummer only plays every other note when nessesary. As for the singing, the microphone can't even detect what words you're saying, not to mention whether you're singing or screaming, so it could just be toneless words like in sabotage and in other songs. If you're into metal, scream if you want. More fun in my opinion. A7X (older stuff, like Unholy Confessions) would be awesome too.

emmure
what do you guys think?

i didn't know anyone else around here was a fan of emmure... i saw them play with the agony scene a few months ago and had never heard of them.. as soon as i got back from the concert, i picked of the emmure cd, and have been a huge fan ever since... i would be utterly pumped if they were to add some emmure for DLC... wont ever happen.. but 10 signs you should leave is my new favorite song.. b.bonds

Hardcore is Hatebreed (old days), Snapcase, Shai Hulud, Good Riddance (mostly), Milhouse, Will Haven, ....it goes on and on, but not with 95% of the crap listed in this thread. Some of it is confused for metalcore or some other such ****. Hell, even the Dead Kennedys are / were hardcore.

Can't believe I registered just to respond to these nubs.

Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica... We need more of them all :D
