I've been reading these forums for a while and I have noticed a certain trend. First off let me say I'm not a fan of rock music. There are a few songs that I like but overall it's not my favorite genre of music. But I love Guitar Hero 1 & 2.

Now back to the trend I observed. It seems that most of you guys expect the future song announcements to continue to be these huge "Legends of Rock" (no pun intended) type songs. While there will be many more great songs to be announced you have to expect some of the future songs to be those that are from bands less popular with the hardcore rock fans ie MCR, Panic! at the disco, Maroon 5, Fall out Boy and other "MTV bands"

HMX is always speaking of Rock Band as a platform for music and I believe that this game will be the MTV of video games. I can see new "MTV bands" getting their big break in the form of getting their songs on RB similar to how Good Charlotte seemingly got their start on Madden.

Do you agree? If not, why not? Is this a good thing or bad? How do you feel about it? You know, all the typical questions.

If people get to choose what they get to buy then only what is truly wanted by the fans will be bought. Unless their songs are given out for free an unkknown band will only break it big through RB if their stuff is actually good.

Im hoping they will keep using lesser known GOOD artists like in gh2 and gh1 bonus songs. That way it will actually help the industry instead of filling it with crap. I think rock band has a lot more potential than a lot of people understand... It's got the ability to be a vessel for change in the music industry.

For example I'm really on the fence about what to do with my life. Really have no interest in many careers ive seen and the only thing I've ever really been interested in is music, passionately. When RB hits i'm planning on playing everything, and I'm really excited for vocals because it'll give me a chance to practice singing.. and from there, who knows, start a band, make some music I would want to listen to myself. There are a lot of people who will benefit from this game in more ways than just entertainment value and who may do the same thing, mark my words.

Not to mention all the kids who thought they could play guitar after doing expert on guitar hero... Not even close to a real guitar, but this time they will be able to say 'I can play drums' or 'I'm a great singer' when they get to that level. Think about that. The game basically teaches you to play the drums... Granted not on a full set, but in this case it is the technique which matters, and the most important thing is being able to mentally seperate your arms and legs and allow them to do different things at once, and this game will teach you to do that. There's a ton of possibilities in the next few years in this genre.

So I respectfully disagree. Or at least I propose that the game will have its benefits on the industry as well.

Lets face it,the music that will be given to players will be
the music that sells be it Hank Williams or some of this
that sounds like each member of the band is playing
a different song at the same time.

What's out there now,some I like but most I don't.
I've never been one to follow the crowd just because
I want to fit in. It's my money and i'll decide what, when and
where I want to spend it.

I'm praying that they dont put MTV music on Rock Band. I'll honestly skip songs by bands like Fall Out Boy. In fact I'm embarrassed I just called them a band. The thing is, the game is called ROCK Band. Songs that rock. And Fall Out Boy does not rock. And can you imagine playing those sissy songs? It would be so boring. The guitar is so simple and boring. But, I'm a huge MCR fan and whole-heartedly think there should be more. Why? Because MCR does ROCK. Theres a difference between MCR and those other "MTV bands". Does Fall Out Boy have solos like the ones in Dead!? I think not. MCR is moving away from being such a sissy band to getting some real rock in their music.

i don't know why they would put FOB or P!ATD in this game, because their songs have no good instrumental parts at all.

Eh, I'm expecting the same music as GH1 and 2. MTV was just as "in" this game as they were GH 1 and 2. They wouldnt put all new, unknown bands in. They know that most people who buy this game want a variety of things. Hardcore, newer rock, and classic rock. They dont want any new bands. Bands can get their break the same way they did in the other games. They will be put in bonus tracks. Or in this case, maybe Downloadble content. But as for MTV just putting in all their new bands? Very unlikely. Sure, a lot of the music is probably out of their reach. But they're not going to load the game with new, crappy, unknown music. That would not be a good selling point. I mean, look at all the announced tracks now, they're great. They have an amazing variety. The only way, as you said, get bands their "big break", they would just put them as bonus tracks, or downloadable tracks. The others, as in the main content, is all going to be huge bands. AC/DC (possibly) Van Halen (possibly), Rush, The Who. They wouldnt be stupid enough to let MTV take charge by loading it with bad music. They have more sense than that.

Yes, they actually have a Music Advisory Board led by SVZ who hosts a radio show that doesnt play "MTV" music. So all of the Fall out boy bands should be kept to a minimum in this game.:D

God, I hope they don't put that stuff in. Crappy bands need less encouragement, not more. The sooner those bands stop getting money and kudos for making cruddy music, the sooner they stop making cruddy music. Period.
