Someone please help me. I just recently bought a LCD HDTV and tryed to play Rockband. There is a HUGE lag. I went into the Options to calibrate the system for the tv but every option still had a HUGE lag. I went in to manually calibrate and I still had the same problem...PLEASE HELP!

Read through your TV manual to find out what the native resolution is. Most LCDs, Plasmas, and DLPs have a native resolution of 720p. So if you have your 360/PS3 set to output anything higher, your TV has to convert the signal before it will display it. This will cause lag.

Another thing to check in the manual is for Game Mode. Most HDTV's have this to speed up the processing of signals for game consoles.

Lag and You!

Well, there are several threads that deal with this problem, a problem I had myself. Technically, there has to be a way to fix it if you can manually make the lag too far ahead and too far behind--it's just a matter of finding the perfect happy medium (for this I refer you to the thread "Black Magic of Calibration").

I myself had this problem, and it drove me crazy because it seemed to be getting worse. Here are some general tips.

1. Does your console have an HD switch of some kind on it? Flip it on.

2. Does your TV have a "Game" setting? (mentioned above) Use it.

3. Eliminate as many of the extra steps as possible between your console sound outputs and the speakers that you primarily use for game audio (plug console directly into audio receiver instead of into tv/tv into receiver, e.g.)

4. Are you sure that when you change the calibration on the game that you are saving it to a profile, and using that profile when you play? I have had this problem on xbox especially when playing multiplayer--painstakingly adjusting the calibration then realizing I wasn't using the settings I had just adjusted.

Having struggled through all of these problems, I was frustrated when settings still seemed to be off or change after I had them adjusted. Then, one day, I found that the default calibration of LCD TV worked perfectly. I have no explanation for it, other than to say it was a rock band miracle. Inexplicably, the next day, it went haywire again. THen the NEXT day, out of the blue, LCD default setting worked again and I have had no problems since (for many hours of play over many days). Strange, but the good news is that it works now.

Don't give up on perfect calibration, either manually or by default setting! It makes the game so much more enjoyable.
