The Berzerker isn't bad, and I will say that they play their music fast as **** and the drummer's pretty insane, but I personally think Joey has more talent simply in that he does more with his drumming. He's definintely overrated tho, nowhere near as good as the greats like Flo Mounier, Frost, Hellhammer, and Mike Portnoy.

Here's my problem with that whole argument...drums are just one part of a BAND! Good, fast, or whatever drumming means crap if there isn't anything else with it. Nobody is going to go see a concert where the only performer is a drummer and his set.

Now, a percussion group...that's different, like STOMP...those guys rule. Saw them live and will see them again....oh..sorry, got off track.

Well, that certainly explains why I can't stomach speed metal. Well, I shouldn't lump the whole genre like that. I would admit if I liked a song from any band...my problem is that most I have heard is just a lot of noise and screaming or that ridiculous "roaring."

i always thought that Slipknot kinda sucked and was disappointed i had to play one of their songs on GH III, but i can't help but like Wait and Bleed and also a really really long time ago, some showed me a Slipknot song called *****slap, you can find it on the internet someone listen to it, they actually play like jazz guitar and stuff, mixed with screaming metal, then go to disco...they suck but it's kind of a cool song...anyways, i think Joey Jordison is pretty fast drummer though, not that it means to much...i like well thought out complicated catchy beats compared to seeing how many times someone someone can smack the snare with in a second...but i think that's because my room-mate marches in a professional drumline...

Mmkay cupcake, i like slipknot and all, but i must say their material is not challenging to drummers nor guitarists, ive only been playing guitar 4 years and i can pick it up in 5 minutes, and my friend has only been playing set for about 1 year and a half and can play anything by them. You wanna talk fast drumming or technical drumming or guitars? Try Anterior, All that remains, As i lay dying, or Burn in silence. Just to name a few.
All that remains drummer Jason Costa plays traditional style and destroys the set so much more than Jordison. Derrek roddy and Darren Cesca are Beasts beyond belief at speed.

I get it. Really I do, I went throught the Slipknot phase, I thought they were the "cat's meow". When I grew up I wanted to be just like "my hero" Corey Taylor. But then I realized.... Wow, I dont want to be a grown man in a jumpsuit and a halloween mask.

I wouldn't consider my Slipknot phase as a waste though, it did teach me three very important lessons.

Lesson 1. - 7 string guitars are for Steve Vai, and are not to be wasted on powerchords.

Lesson 2. - Anything past 5 band members is overkill (unless you're a soul band, I'll give an allowance for backup singers & brass)

Lesson 3. - Fast drumming isn't the same as good drumming.

I'm not saying that the "musicians" aren't talented, I'm just saying that as a band, Slipknot's not as good as their considered to be. They have gotten to where they are because of a stupid gimmicks. (Seriously though, masks??) They're a gimmick, just like the Monkies were in the 70's.
