I haven't seen this on the forums, but should only one member on an online band have a dlc song will every member be able to play it? Or must everyone have that track? Thanks :)

I'll bet you the price of Who's Next that everyone needs the DLC to play.
Otherwise, how does anyone make money?

That is a great question. lets hope the "host" of the band can use their dlc for the whole band to use

I believe sir, you are absolutely correct! As sweet as it would be to have one guy with the song host while the others don't, it just wont happen. Think of Halo 2. Could you play a map that someone else downloaded but you hadn't yet? Nope

It would be nice, but no I don't think it will happen, everyone will need the content or else they wont be able to play it.

RO better think that through, say that 2 people in your band don't like Nevermind. If they don't like it, and you could care less about it, you may just avoid buying it altogether since you can't play it online with your band. No download = no money for RO / the artist. And that signifies fail.

RO who? lol RedOctane is making GHIII, not Rock Band :)
Harmonix I believe is what you meant.
What you play or download is purely optional. Someone can download an album and play it in single player. DLC is not involved in any career mode. It's purely for quick play. People aren't going to not download it, just because there's the chance they can't play it online with other people.
Point is, people will still download what they want to play, whether it's single play or with others. I know I will be downloading regardless.

Sorry 'bout that :) 2 times I made that mistake.
But you have a point, personally I will dl just about anything short of Megasus. I believe that I would even dl MiM (just for laughs :))

Think of it this way. Would I download something that I didn’t even know I liked, no I would not. If they made it so whatever someone else downloaded could be played by me even if I don’t have it; that would give me, the consumer, the ability to try out the song and see if I even want it. That is not unheard of in the gaming community it is called a demo. We all know that you would not get the song for free this way and if you really liked it you would go get it. It is a better opportunity for smaller bands to get there material out as well, because it gives people a chance to demo the work before they buy it. Same concept as releasing a single on the radio let the public determine weather or not they like it before they buy it.

The closest I can envision is giving each download a certain number of "Friend plays" where you can play with people online. Otherwise the record labels will think that nobody else would buy it (and they'd probably be right). Considering I think most people will play their DLC with friends, the labels are going to want to capitalize on that, and not just let people have it for free as long as they're playing online.

I doubt it, though the Crackdown expansion implemented this feature, if you played a co-op game with someone who had the pack, then you would get all the cool features.

i can agree with that. at least give people a chance to see if they even like it. that could be an idea for like a try it before you buy it section in the DLC. that would have the unknown bands so you could play it and only if you liked it you could purchas it. something like that.

I'm fairly certain they will let you hear the songs they got up. Maybe not the whole song all the way through.. But enough to let you know if interests you. You can always further research a song via the web.

That is ok yeah. They would have a better market if the let you try the song at least once. Case player a can play on expert and wants a challenge. Looks at dl content to see if there is anything there. He is more likely to buy a song if he can try it first, that way as he is making a decision based on his playing rather than a 20 sec intro that dose not even show what the song has in it. And on top of that he is exposing him to more songs that he mite not of looked at in the first place. So my point is trial of songs would be good thing. Now if the RL wants to be happy than I say demo like half the song that is fare and still lets a person try it. Or if you could play a song with your friends like a few times with out downloading the song first would be good. One limit your “free play” two, exposure of music, three if it is a good song you probably will get it anyway. I could go on but I am at work

I like the trial idea a lot, it doesn't seem that far fetched seeing as xbox360 and ps3 already have trial games.

If you want to know whether or not you'll like the album/DLC they have "demos" for most things out released on a thing called youtube :)
