Does anyone else agree that if a song has a bass line and a rhythm guitar riff that they should both be made playable? The bass player should be able to choose between the two.
Say if a band has two guitar players and a bass player. What if the bass line is too repetitive or the rhythm guitar riff is just catchy? Wouldn't you rather play the rhythm guitar?
I would. Some songs just don't have good a bass line, there's nothing we can do about that... except play rhythm guitar instead! It makes sense to me. If your the bass player in the band and theres a couple songs with a bad bass line, why not play something more exciting?
I also think that songs without words should have lead, rhythm, and bass. I think it would be a waste if a song didn't have words and only lead and bass/rhythm could be played. For example, Jessica by the Allman Brothers has rhythm throughout the whole song. It would be sweet to rock out with two guitars, one bass, and a set of drums.
One other thing.
About song suggestions
I know people are just trying to get there favorite songs on the game, but its most likely not going to happen. When you make a suggestion, think it through for a bit. I'm seeing alot of suggestions being made simply on how good the guitar is, or how good the drum beat is. The suggestions should be a good balance between the guitar, the bass, the drums, and the vocals. I'm trying to find the perfect Beatles song, its pretty tough. Right now my choice is Get Back from the album Let It Be.

This has been discussed before, I think it is actually in a topic with a similar name to yours still on the front page. I agree it would be nice to pick between playing rhythm sometimes and bass others, when one sounds and plays better than the other. It might be hard and time consuming for harmonix to do this, also if like you say you would rather play one than the other, than why bother even making the one that poeple wont play? I think it is better if Harmonix decides (similar to what they did with Co-Op in Guitar Hero II) what should and shouldn't be in the game, so certain songs with better guitar will have that in place of bass, while other songs will have bass.

This answers that question.
Also, it's near impossible to have a screen interface consist of 2 guitar fret boards, a bass fret board, and the drum notes all on one screen. It would be way too cluttered, and would have to be too small to read.
