Any drummers here ever find a "drumscape" machine at a theme park arcade, or any other arcade for that matter and just say "I have to play that!" Well, some of them were programmed to where you could just play it without inserting coins, the only thing was that you wouldn't be playing to a track. You'd just be playing drums all by yourself.

Now, I wrote that part so that I could emphasize this one. Has anyone heard of a mode for the drum peripheral where certain pieces of a kit are assigned by default to the different pads, and you can just play? I would have a little fun with this, and not only that but people who aren't drummers could have fun trying to learn how to play drums when there isn't any music to play to, or notes to match. If anyone has heard anything about Harmonix incorporating this idea, you should spit it here. I'm just curious. Thank you.

Yeah budday thats what I was suggesting too.. It'd be wicked. Basically the same idea is used in drum machines, you assign each player a drum [kick, snare, hi hat] and each drum sounds different.. then you just run with it. I think it'd be a wicked idea.

When I first heard about RB, I kinda figured they'd do this anyway, but the more I hear the less I think they'll adapt a free playing idea. We can only hope, though.

jk, i'm not going to be a dick.

I made a thread about this a while ago - I'm really hoping this will happen, it would make the value of the game that much better. Instead of having to buy an electronic drum set.. just being able to use this.. it would be freaking amazing, as well as encourage real instrument learning.

If they don't add it.. (SHAME ON YOU), I'm sure people will make a program for the PC and we can just connect it via USB or wireless MS connector.

I think it would be pretty easy for them to implement and it would get amazing feeback. I mean.. It's fun enough playing drums, but if you can just mess around and play some beats like that it'd be stellar. Hopefully if not in this one we'll see it in RB2 should there be one.

hah, talking about RB2 already? It makes me feel pain thinking of how long we'll have to wait for that one once RB comes out. I think RB will keep us busy for a good while, though. ESPECIALLY with this feature. Practice drum rythms without bothering people! I can't practice when I think I might be annoying anyone within earshot.

and see, there you have it. A perfect example of why this should at least be a considered option in the game, or at least a feature to be worked on.

it would be so easy to make, I can't see why RB wouldn't have this feature. I'd be pretty disappointed if they didn't add this in. If they do make it, they may feel obligated to make one for the guitar. Which would be very cool, but also very limited. And then if they make it for guitar and drums, they'd HAVE to make it for the microphone, and I think everyone knows that that would be terrible. :p
