'lo all here. Apologies if this style of thread's already been created- It's 5.30AM here and I'm bloody tired so I didn't bother to look for a similar/exact thread.
I just got Rock Band yesterday(17 Jan 2008) and the drum kit was completely DOA. I tried plugging it in through the hub, nothing. The hub itself is flimsy as all get out and the power supply jack in part doesn't even fit entirely into the hub port itself. I tried further to get the drum kit to work by plugging it into my 360 port on a port that I know works, and got nothing at all. Checked for battery ports that I might've missed, nothing. And to top it off, there was no real instruction manual in the box itself. I got small directions in the boxes and whatnot, but that was it. I've already gone through EA to get a new drum kit and all that jazz, so here's to hoping.
My question to you all here is, is this a normal occurence with Rock Band equipment? I was hesitant to get this as it's rather pricey at 169 US dollars and come to find out that one of the main peripherals don't work...I'm pretty disappointed. I haven't even tested the mic yet. Afraid to.
However, this thread isn't without it's positive aspects! I was very overjoyed to find out that the GH3 controller works with Rock Band so I've been using that for fear that I might break the Strat controller as well. The DLC for the game is absolutely beastly compared to GH3's, and the song content is amazing. Kudos to Harmonix and MTV for creating such an immersive musical experience here.
Once again, I'm sorry if this thread's been done before, or if I come off whining or anything. It's not my intent at all. I'm just a brand new player to the Rock Band experience and with this coming out of the gate, I'm very wary of what else might possibly happen.
Thanks!

I am afraid that there have been a lot of issues with the controllers. Its really too bad, because the game is great. It really shines when you have a "full band" with four people playing the game. It just kicks the fun into high gear.
If the drums were DOA, I would suggest using the Strat so it will go ahead and break so you can order a new one...
Be thankful you are on an xbox... GH controllers do not work with RB on the PS3.
I wish you lots of luck in getting the replacement drums, seems like EA is overloaded with returns and everything is backed up by about 14 days, at least that is what it seems by reading the threads here and by my own experence with a RMA for my guitar.

Pift...I own a PS3 and well, yeah...I cant use my GH3 gutair on RB...
I can't wait for the extra controlers to come out so that I can trade my copies of GH3 off for them tho. I find that GH3 just collects dust.
As for the orginal post, yeah sounds like you have a faulty drum set and need to get it replaced.

I know. I'm very lucky/grateful that my GH3 controller works on Rock Band. It's what I've been playing with the past...3-4 hours(3AM-9AM) to get as far as I am. i contacted EA through the site and working on the whole "RMA" thing. supposed to get a box soon. :\

If the power supply jack for the USB hub isn't fitting in snugly and correctly, you should RMA that also. While they are kinda flimsy, they do normally work ;)

Well, the hub works and all that. It's got power to at least 1 port that I know of. My concern with it is that it doesn't fit in snugly. The jack is too long for the hub itself so half of the jack sticks out. I'm probably going to go to Gamestop and buy the Rock band licensed hub.
