This is complete speculation, but from what i read at gamespot forums from a poster claiming to know which songs are coming soon. Normally I would blow this off and not believe it but i think there maybe some merit to what this person said. Anybody believe this or think it's all guess work?

Feb 5th DLC

"Crazy Train" as made famous by Ozzy Ozbourne
"Crawling in the Dark" by Hoobastank
"Bohemian Rhapsody" as made famous by Queen

One song that caught my eye was the Hoobastank one, never heard anybody wanting Crawling in the Dark.

The 2/12/08 or 2/19/08 download content will be as follows:

"You Really Got Me" as made famous by Van Halen
"You Shook Me All Night Long" as made famous by AC/DC
"In the Air Tonight" by Nonpoint

First album download (the who) will be availible in march, no word on Nirvana.

Other tracks confirmed, but no firm release date.

"Nice To Know You" by Incubus
"Vertigo" by U2
"I Hate Myself For Loving You" by or as made famous by Joan Jett And The Blackhearts
"Another One Bites the Dust" as made famous by Queen
"One Step Closer" by Linkin Park
"Lights" as made famous by Journey
"Chop Suey" by System of a Down
"Girls Girls Girls" as made famous by Motley Crue
"Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake
"Tension" by Nural
"Space Truckin'" by Deep Purple

Dam Gotta wait till march for "whos next."

I highly doubt these though it seems a good list. to good to be true. the only thing that makes it seem plusable is the fact that alot of the songs suck

also i dont belive U2 would lend their tracks to ROck band Bono is a big peice of crap South park refrence Bono was spawned from a giant turd weighing 8 curicks and fed bitty to become the persom he is today

also the Ac/Dc thing seems to good to be true

I call bull**** on this.

Why would they use a band's remake?

But then again, 2 remakes are in there and GH2 did use You Really Got Me.

However, unless I see HMX saying something, I won't believe it.

Also:

HELLO HELLOOOO
YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Phil Collins too. It's Nonpoint's cover but I would guess they'd still have to get the rights from Collins. Also they can't find Powerman 5000 masters? That's the part that doesn't really make it believable for me but it could be true.

Also according to this person two Breakin Benjamin songs are also confirmed and More Beastie Boyz and possibly Green Day is being looked at.

The one song that really makes me question the validity of the list is System of a Down. I really don't see them ever licensing their songs for games or anything else for that matter because they are very anti-commercialism/capitalism.

So isn't Rage Against the Machine.. and we see how that worked out...

Not here too...

The guy gave no source and ignored people who asked where he got the info. He is just a troll making stuff up. Nobody knows release dates of DLC in April and June.

as sweet as thatr list is it's the queen song that tips it off for me. SOmething like that would be announced sahead of time i think. I don't see them ever getting queen rights.

the u2 is intresting too. If there was U2 i'd hope for sunday bloddy sunday

well we'll have to wait till end of jan to see if he/she is telling the truth. If the list is true i am extremely dissapointed not to see any GNR.

I call bullsh-t. HMX said they wouldn't map keyboard parts to guitar anymore, and this song has too little guitar to work if mapped accurately.

Some of the songs seem quite random to be making up, but I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up and believe this list. Guess we will find out though soon enough.

Sugar, Science, and Shimmy were all featured in video game soundtracks.

A few of those seem realistic, but seriously, AC/DC? That's the dead giveaway of a troll right there.

***FOR ANYBODY WHO THINKS AC/DC IS COMING TO ROCK BAND IN THE NEAR FUTURE:***
guess what.....they don't even give iTunes the rights to sell their mp3s. What makes you think they'd just hand over the rights to RB? If we're lucky, we may see a cover or two sometime, but chances are that's it.

The Queen song was originally in GH 1. To point out another flaw it doesn't exactly make finanical sense to relase Crawling in the Dark next to those two songs.

sidman69
01-19-2008, 02:04 AM
good point about AC/DC but it says As Made Famous by so it's a cover version but how does licensing for cover versions work? Do the developers even need permission to use a cover version of a song?

Works the same way as getting master, maybe less money?

To use a cover you need one license (from the people who wrote the song) whereas with a master you need two (one from the people who wrote it, and one from the publisher to use the recording). I think. So it's a little less work, and if one person is on the credits for writing the song, it may be easier to just work with that one person to get a deal.

What sounds odd to me is two Queen songs coming out at different times. What would look right would be a three song pack of Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites the Dust, and Killer Queen. But time will tell.

Three reasons I call BS:

1) Random internet person usually means BS anyways. (Most important one.)

2) Bohemian Rhapsody and Another One Bites the Dust are great songs, but not very good RB songs (except for vocals.. and every Queen song would be good for vocals).

3) System of a Down has reportedly expressed interested in being in RB before but was shut down by their label. (I can't vouch for the validity of this one though. Just one of those pre-release things I read.)

While there are some interesting bits in there that may seem legitimate, it is total speculation at this point. And unconfirmed speculation, rumor, heresay, and related topics have been declared out of bounds to keep mis-information to a minimum.
