Sonic Youth is a band I'm sure most of you on the boards, and all of you at Harmonix, have heard of. When they were left out of Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, I was very disappointed. Sonic Youth has been a driving force behind experimental rock and proto-punk since the early 80s, which makes them a perfect fit for the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises, respectively.

That said, I think that their songs would benefit more by being in Rock Band, due to their unique style in the way that they tune their instruments and often times use two guitars with "weird" tunings, while Guitar Hero seems to be aiming for a more traditional soundtrack of artists.

With all that behind me, I can't help but suggest the album Sister by Sonic Youth being a downloadable content on Playstation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace, alongside the already announced Who's Next and Nevermind, creating a perfect mix from three leading bands of their eras, of the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

If that is not possible, than I plead with you to at least consider the song Schizophrenia by Sonic Youth off of the Sister album. If you were alive at the time, you would know that this song got a fair share of radio play in the late 80s and was prominently featured on MTV in short commercials and live sets. However, after a certain point, the song goes to pedal effects and such and the vocals cut out, so I'm not sure if this would bode well as a Rock Band song. Cutting it off is a bit harsh, considering how much of a classic it is. Perhaps, Stereo Sanctity off the same album, would be a better fit, if cut short as well. Another, lesser played song that has a fast tempo, some great guitar parts, and some very fun drums.

Really, it doesn't matter what songs from the band do get in, but Harmonix, I'm begging; please include Sonic Youth in Rock Band.

Heh, no offense, I think Sonic Youth is an awesome band and all but I think the band 'X' took their place in GHE: Rocks The 80's. :p

For some reason, I don't think Schizophrenia would fit into the whole exhilarating feeling that is Rock Band. Something more upbeat like Kool Thing or Stereo Sanctity, as you mentioned, would fit in better.

I was really hoping that "Teenage Riot" from Sonic Youth was going to make into the 80's compilation. Probably my favorite song from them.

Something off Rather Ripped might be the best fit for RB. Like Incinerate.

Has anyone else noticed that Thurston Moore still looks 20?
