Thanks to the help for Djlightning311 and another friend we have devised the BEST fix for the rockband guitar for xbox. i will include a couple of pics here to show what we did. i don't have the patience to wait for someone to send me a new guitar or ship the old one and wait etc etc. and well, i dont feel like buying one from ebay that may possibly not work. pardon the somewhat blurry pics. the camera wasnt working so i had to use my phone. the replacement switch is actually from a HP printer. so if you're a computer geek this shouldnt be too hard for you to locate. i don't know the exact part @ off the top of my head but if you want to know send me a message here or @ epenn81@yahoo.com. i think you may be able to goto radioshack or other electronics stores and find a similar switch. this one just worked out perfect b/c it had a hole @ the bottom corner just big enough for the original screw to pass through and lock it down into the guitar case. having said that here we go. here's the disclaimer:

***THIS FIX WILL COMPLETELY VOID YOUR ***
***WARRANTY!!! IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED IF ***
***YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. ***
***DO *NOT* ATTEMPT THIS FIX! CHILDREN ***
***UNDER 18 SHOULD HAVE PARENTS HELPING ***
***THEM WITH PARTS OF THIS FIX. ***

this picture shows that we removed the solder from the original contacts and attatched the wires to a new switch.

next shot shows the original spot where the tension screw/housing is missing and the new switch is placed. also, the "nub" that rests on top of the foam cushion was filed down with a dremmel tool so it would clear the new housing during strumming.

another angle shows that the middle "nub" is what now activates the switch

That is EXACTLY what I am doing to one of my controllers.

Nice fix. I was getting tired of adjusting the set screw on my first guitar. If my replacement one starts to go, I may consider doing this. :)
