For me its more artists and nostalgia that helps to define my list. That and getting the feeling of performing the song, it wouldn't have to be the hardest or most involved songs...I'd love to see:

Virtually anything from early Prince (I know, near impossible)
More from Aerosmith
Santana (for variety)
Rick James
Something older...maybe from Chuck Berry (Johnny b. Good?)

There are others but they will echo a lot of what I've already seen so far....these are the ones that would make the game more appealing to me. Having played the GH and the KR series, I enjoy aspects of both of the series and can't wait to see them together!

I think something like kiss by prince would fit right in but I hope I never see that in one of these games. I actually feel ashamed to be so derogatory but I just don't think prince fits into the atmosphere. I know my best friend would be tickled if it happened. shes nuts over that song.

Kiss was definitely one of the songs that came to mind, the other major one I was interested in performing with a group was Purple Rain. That would be the greatest thing ever for me. I agree that they have a very different vibe than a number of the songs on there, but I think they could certainly work as an unlockable or hidden track. Also if one or two other, similar songs were included to round out the list. He's certainly had some great bands (Revolution, NPG, the one he put together for Musicology, etc) and by title it should in theory fit ("Rock Band" vs "Heavy Metal Game" or "Big Hair Band") He plays a mean guitar, has great drummers, and great lyrics/vocals, so from a game/fun standpoint, one of his could be a perfect addition. Also I was thinking of it from the same view that you mentioned. My gf LOVES KR, and is just lukewarm to GH. From the list that's given, I don't know how many of the songs she would be interested in singing and that is as integral a part to this game as the guitar or drums. I also think its unwise to ignore the female contingent of the population. That's not to say that there aren't a lot of female rockers out there, but throwing in a few for the casual female gamer can't hurt.

Ideally there probably would be a separate game that highlights a better suited category. Unfortunately, to me and a large number of other people, he doesn't really fit into a category, so this discussion would probably be held for anything else that's put out also. I again cite the KR games because I feel that they do a great job of mixing various styles and genres of songs and yet still feeling like a good game. Because of those games there are songs that I wouldn't have otherwise been too familiar with that are now some of my favorites and for which I now have a deeper appreciation. The same is true for the GH series and I think the same could be done with RB.

(Oh yeah, almost forgot. Although it wouldn't be my first choice, I think "Let's Go Crazy" would actually fit in with the list/atmosphere)

When you say early Prince, would that include "Let's Go Crazy"?
I think that'd be a pretty fun song for Rock Band.

Yes, that is definitely part of what I consider earlier Prince, and I think it would be a very good fit also, again not the top on my list of favorites to be included, but 1) it fits the bill and 2) beggars can't be choosers.

Another song I'd like to see that would not be considered "canon" or even real rock maybe, but would be great to me nonetheless is, "Scotty Doesn't Know" :) I think that would be a great add-on song, that could probably be done fairly easily, as there is no true band behind it. It's fun and would bring back good memories for fans.
